Love is the Fullfillment of the Law

grace

The Bible says that those who are under the Jewish law are under a curse. Now I know that some Christians don’t want to hear this but it is in the Bible.

Jesus said to the Jews: “Therefore say I unto you, The kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof.  (From the KJV Bible, Matthew 21:43)”

“ And when he was come near, he beheld the city, and wept over it,  Saying, If thou hadst known, even thou, at least in this thy day, the things which belong unto thy peace! but now they are hid from thine eyes. For the days shall come upon thee, that thine enemies shall cast a trench about thee, and compass thee round, and keep thee in on every side,  And shall lay thee even with the ground, and thy children within thee; and they shall not leave in thee one stone upon another; because thou knewest not the time of thy visitation.” Luke 19:41-44

The fig tree is used in the Old Testament figuratively as the nation of Israel. When Jesus cursed the fig tree he did this as a prophetic act. Judgment came upon the Jewish nation for rejecting Jesus Christ the Messiah. Jesus found no fruit on the fig tree just like he found no fruit with the Jewish nation in that they preferred the Law of Moses to his grace and mercy.

And on the morrow, when they had come out of Bethany, he [Jesus] hungered. And seeing a fig tree afar off having leaves, he came, if perhaps he might find anything thereon: and when he came to it, he found nothing but leaves; for it was not the season of figs. And he answered and said unto it, ‘No man [will] eat fruit from you from now on — for ever.’ And his disciples heard it …. And as they passed by in the morning, they saw the fig tree withered away from the roots. And Peter calling to remembrance said unto him, ‘Rabbi, behold, the fig tree that you cursed is withered away’” Mk. 11:12-14; 20-21.

The Jewish temple was again destroyed and again the Jewish people were dispersed throughout the world and very persecuted. This was the judgment of God. Christians don’t like to talk about this for fear of seeming anti Semitic, BUT facts are facts. Until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled Israel is blinded in part to the gospel and only a remnant will be saved according to the election of grace.

Even so then at this present time also there is a remnant (Jews) according to the election of grace. Romans 11:5

And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then is it no more grace: otherwise work is no more work.

What then? Israel hath not obtained that which he seeketh for; but the election hath obtained it, and the rest were blinded (According as it is written, God hath given them the spirit of slumber, eyes that they should not see, and ears that they should not hear;) unto this day.

And David saith, Let their table be made a snare, and a trap, and a stumblingblock, and a recompence unto them: Let their eyes be darkened, that they may not see, and bow down their back alway.

I say then, Have they stumbled that they should fall? God forbid: but rather through their fall salvation is come unto the Gentiles, for to provoke them to jealousy. Romans 11:5-11

The nation of Israel will only be saved at the return of Jesus Christ to Jerusalem according to the rest of that chapter above. In the meantime during the tribulation, Israel will rebuild the temple, and starts up animal sacrifices. This is an affront to the sacrifice of Jesus Christ because of once again returning to the Law of Moses and rejecting grace through faith in Jesus Christ the Messiah. This will bring Israel under more judgment. The bible says that their land will be trod upon again by the Gentiles because anti-christ, according to the book of Daniel comes from the same ancient Roman Empire that destroyed the temple in 70 AD.

The people of the prince who is to come will destroy the city and the sanctuary. And his end will come in the flood; even to the end there will be war; desolations are determined.” Daniel 9:26-“

The city of Jerusalem and the Temple were destroyed in ad 70 by Titus and the Roman legions, but Titus was not the ruler stated in this verse. This is because Daniel 9:27 describes the ruler as one who will make a seven-year treaty with Israel, put an end to the sacrifices and offerings, and set up a sacrilegious object in the temple. These are events that will be fulfilled in the end time tribulation. According to Daniel, the Antichrist will come from among the people who destroyed the Temple. We can therefore conclude that the Antichrist will come from the Roman Empire because the book of Daniel states that the final world empire before the establishment of Christ’s millennial kingdom will be a revived form of the Roman Empire.

The Byzantium was the name for the East-Roman Empire. This part of the Roman Empire was in the Middle East.  Assyria (the Bible calls the anti -Christ, “that Assyrian”) was a Roman province. (Iran, Iraq and Armenia area)

There is also the possibility that the anti Christ will be Jewish in race from the tribe of Dan. This scripture, “for the God of his fathers” is viewed  by Bible scholars as a reference to the monotheistic God.  So, it is possible for the anti -Christ to come from this area. Both Jews and Muslims reject that Jesus is the Son of God and thus God himself.

Neither shall he regard the God of his fathers, nor the desire of women, nor regard any god: for he shall magnify himself above allDaniel 11:37, KJV

I am come in my Father’s name, and ye receive me not: if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive.” John 5:43

Every spirit that does not confess that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is thespirit of Antichrist. He is the spirit of Antichrist who denies that Jesus is the Son of God and the Messiah.” I John 2:22; 4:3

That does not mean however that he will be a practicing Jew because he does not regard any god but himself as a god.

When anti-Christ confirms the covenant with the Jews this means that he will (aman-Hebrew) support, establish, assure, support, verify., So, we can conclude that this agreement between the Israel and anti Christ is a mutual agreement and not one of force.

“Dan will govern his people like any other tribe in Israel. He will be a snake beside the road, a poisonous viper along the path, that bites the horse’s heels so the rider is thrown off” Genesis 49:16-17,

However, regardless of the ethnicity or nation from which the ant Christ will come we do know that the Bible teaches that those under the Law of Moses are under God’s curse. (Judgment)

Paul taught that the Judaizers were teaching a salvation by works. They believed Christians had to be circumcised to be accepted by God. The Judaizers were saying that faith in Jesus Christ was not enough to save the Galatians. They believed Moses started the process of salvation and Jesus Christ continued it. This however, is not true.

Jesus said in the Bible that he takes away the old and brings in the new. There is no continuation. The Law of Moses has been dismantled.

But you go and figure out what this means: I will have mercy, and not sacrifice. No man sews a piece of new cloth on an old garment, or the patch will shrink and the tear will be worse. Neither do men put new wine into old bottles or the bottles break and the wine runs out and the bottles are ruined, but they put new wine into new bottles, and both are saved’ Matthew 9:14-17

Jesus abolished the law, even the Ten Commandments, and He is the fulfillment of the Law of Moses.  I f Jesus Christ dwells in the born again person then they have fulfilled all laws and have no works to do. We now rest in his Grace alone by faith.

Jesus fulfilled all law demands and finished all works. He said, It is finished John 19:30

For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes. …. This righteousness is given through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. Romans 10:4

If you are mixing law and grace, you are not under grace but under the law and therefore are cursed. In other words, you have no salvation because you are adding your deeds and merit to the cross.

For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse; for it is written, Cursed is everyone that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law, to do them.” Galatians 3:10

Romans 9:30-32 says that the Jews sought to become righteous, but they missed out because they sought to attain that by the works demanded in the law.

In Galatians 5, Paul talks about the ministry of the Holy Spirit. It is the Holy Spirit that indwells the Christian which empower works for God. These works are God’s works and ability, not men’s.

Galatians 5 King James Version (KJV)

Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage. Behold, I Paul say unto you, that if ye be circumcised, Christ shall profit you nothing.

For I testify again to every man that is circumcised, that he is a debtor to do the whole law.Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace. For we through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith.

For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love.Ye did run well; who did hinder you that ye should not obey the truth?

This persuasion cometh not of him that calleth you. A little leaven leaveneth the whole lump.

I have confidence in you through the Lord, that ye will be none otherwise minded: but he that troubleth you shall bear his judgment, whosoever he be.

And I, brethren, if I yet preach circumcision, why do I yet suffer persecution? then is the offence of the cross ceased. I would they were even cut off which trouble you. For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.

For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. But if ye bite and devour one another, take heed that ye be not consumed one of another.

This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law. Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,

Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.  But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.

Faith in Jesus Christ produces works of love by the indwelling power of the Holy Spirit. God is love and God lives in his people. Therefore, it is the Spirit of love manifested which fulfills the law of God. If you love others then you are not going to kill them, steal from them, covet their wives, or lie to them.

“For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this: Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.” Galatians 5:18

Owe no man anything, but to love one another; for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law. For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.”  Romans 13:8,9

Paul knew Christ was crucified “that the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit

Faith in Jesus Christ produces works of love and those who are in Christ are declared righteous in Christ. Works are the result of His righteousness in the born again Christian.

That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. Romans 8:4

CALLED TO REPENTANCE

biblebfa388f5-ead6-4c27-92dd-6aa129e12feb-large

The law keepers preach a repentance of works which they interpret as ceasing from sin by turning over a new leaf and then coming to God. THIS IS NOT NEW TESTAMENT REPENTANCE! Rather it is a very subtle works doctrine.

This doctrine is spiritually dangerous as it teaches that one must make Jesus the Lord of his life before he can become Saviour. That is the opposite of the gospel. The gospel says Jesus must become Saviour in your life and then he will become Lord in your life !

Repentance is a gift of God. The only thing that saves a person in sin is the blood of Jesus. The new covenant is not based on keeping the law of Moses.  Rather the Bible says that repentance is granted by the Lord. It is not turning from sin of your own ability because that would mean you must be good before you can be a Christian and the Bible tells us that none are good.

REPENTANCE IS ACKNOWLEGING THE TRUTH OF ONES SINFUL CONDITION ! NOT KEEPING THE LAW !

In the New Testament, the word translated as ‘repentance’ is the Greek word metanoia, which means  “after or behind one’s mind”.  This is a compound word of the preposition ‘meta’ (after, with), and the verb ‘noeo’ (to perceive, to think, the result of perceiving or observing).

In this compound word the preposition combines the two meanings of time and change, so that the whole compound means: ‘to think differently after’. Metanoia therefore is an after-thought, different from the former thought.  A change of mind accompanied by regret and change of conduct, “change of mind and heart”, or, “change of consciousness”. (Wipekedia)

When one becomes born again of the Holy Spirit he then becomes repentant !

Act 11:18 When they heard these things they held their peace , and glorified God saying. Then hath God also to the Gentiles GRANTED REPENTANCE unto life

Act 19:4 Then said Paul , John verily baptized with the BAPTISM OF REPENTANCE saying unto the people , that they SHOULD BELIEVE on him which should come after him that is , on Christ Jesus .

Rom 2:4 Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering not knowing that the goodness of GOD LEADETH THEE TO repentance ?

2Ti 2:25 In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves ; if God peradventure WILL GIVE THEM REPENTANCE to the acknowledging of the truth

The Gospel of Jesus Christ which calls for repentance also produces it. When the people of Nineveh (Jonah 3:5-10) heard the preaching of the word of God by Jonah they believed the message and turned unto God.

God calls all to repent through the hearing of the Gospel. God grants total repentance as each individual responds to repentance through faith in the the sacrifice of Jesus for all sin.

So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” Romans 10:17

Repentance is given as a gift by God. One cannot show true change in his life before he himself has been changed  by God in order to bring about the fruit which reveals a changed heart.

You must be born again, born of God to be saved. God must give you a new nature in Christ before a life of repentance can be manifested !

And you hath he quickened,(made alive) who were dead in trespasses and sins; Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience” Ephesians 2:1,2

But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned” 1st Corinthians 2:14.

Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” 2 Corinthians 5:17

Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.” 1 Peter 1:23

When we have acknowledged our sin before God then repentance is worked in the heart by the Holy Spirit.

Matthew 9:13, God calls us to REPENTANCE. (metanoia- change of mind, as it appears to one who repents, of a purpose he has formed or of something he has done)

Acts 5: 31, says it is God who gives repentance. This scripture means, didōmi in the Greek….to bestow a gift. Just as God gives the Holy Spirit to those who obey him (receive the truth) so does he give repentance. It is the same word used.

The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom ye slew and hanged on a tree.Him hath God exalted with his right hand to be a Prince and a Saviour, for TO GIVE REPENTANCE to Israel, and forgiveness of sins.
And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him. Acts 5: 31

And again in Acts 11: 16-18 Then remembered I the word of the Lord, how that he said, John indeed baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost. For as much then as God gave them the like gift as he did unto us, who believed on the Lord Jesus Christ; what was I, that I could withstand God? When they heard these things, they held their peace, and glorified God, saying, Then hath God also to the Gentiles GRANTED REPENTANCE UNTO LIFE.

TRUE REPENTANCE according to scripture is brought about by having godly sorrow for sin(s)…..GODLY in this verse is theos -(refers to the things of God, his counsels, interests, things due to him, likened unto God, or resemble him in any way.) So we can see that godly sorrow is wrought by God to bring the heart into conformity to the things that are God like as shown in this scripture.

Now I rejoice, not that ye were made sorry, but that ye sorrowed to repentance: for ye were made sorry after a godly manner, that ye might receive damage by us in nothing. For GODLY SORROW worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death. For behold this selfsame thing, that ye sorrowed after a godly sort, what carefulness it wrought in you, yea, what clearing of yourselves, yea, what indignation, yea, what fear, yea, what vehement desire, yea, what zeal, yea, what revenge! In all things ye have approved yourselves to be clear in this matter. 2 Corinthians 7:9-11.

This scripture also shows us that there is another type of sorrow for sins and that is the SORROW OF THE WORLD which works death in an individual. The word sorrow in this verse is lypē-pain, grief, annoyance, affliction ,of persons mourning.

The word “world” kosmos -in this verse means the ungodly multitude.  The whole of the humans race alienated from God, and therefore hostile to Jesus Christ.  World affairs, the aggregate of things earthly.

So we can see that “worldly sorrow” is not repentance because it produces no Godly characteristics and it leads only to death.

Godly sorrow on the other hand produces repentance unto life. So, if we do not see Godlike fruit produced in the person by the turning away from his/her sin on a continual basis we know through scripture that their is no godly sorrow and therefore no true repentance and thus no real conversion. That is why we must judge fruit over a period of time. However, just because some one has little green apples it does not mean that there is no fruit, only immaturity. With time fruit will either grow or it will not. Time will tell.

“And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behooved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day: and that REPENTANCE and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.” Luke 24:46,47

So now that we have learned from scriptures that repentance is a gift bestowed by God and that true repentance produces godly character, we need to know how repentance is wrought in our hearts by the Holy Spirit. First of all scriptures say that God the Father calls us to repentance. The Greek word for call is kaleō which means to call out with a loud voice as well as to name some one. If you remember when God called Abraham , he called him OUT of the land of UR and by faith Abraham went out. In the same way God calls his elect OUT OF DARKNESS AND INTO HIS marvelous LIGHT according to scripture.

But ye [are] a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light  1 Peter 2:9

Scriptures also tell us that God calls sinners to repentance BUT he does not call the righteous or in other words he calls those who recognize their sinful state by the light of the Holy Spirit,  but those who do not recognize their sinful state and are self righteous, and those he does not call.

When Jesus heard it, he saith unto them, They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance. ” Mark 2:17

So we can see that repentance first of all comes about by recognizing one’s sin, this is being CALLED TO REPENTANCE. This is confirmed by the fact that when the gospel was preached by the apostles they TESTIFIED ( diamartyromai-attest to, confirm, cause to believe. ) concerning REPENTANCE TOWARDS GOD and faith towards Jesus Christ.

And how I kept back nothing that was profitable unto you, but have shewed you, and have taught you publicly, and from house to house,Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, REPENTANCE TOWARD GOD and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ. 20, 21

The disciples testified that God was granting repentance unto life. Repentance is a part of the gospel message. When God calls someone to repentance (change of heart) he gives them the ability by his Spirit to recognize their sin and repent, (turn to God with their whole heart ) .

Blessings in Jesus brethren!

THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS.

10_christ-in-me

One of the names of God is   “The LORD Our Righteousness”  according to Jeremiah 33:16 ” In those days shall Judah be saved , and Jerusalem shall dwell safely: and this is the name wherewith she shall be called: The lord our righteousness. “

One of the reasons that I prefer reading the KJV is because it is the most accurate translation in my opinion. Other versions translate this verse as “the Lord is our righteous Savior” but that is not what this verse actually says. Yĕhovah tsidqenuw translated means Jehovah is our righteousness.

Righteousness means truthful, ethical, moral, lawful, just, and vindicated. In order to have a relationship with God we must be righteous. However, the Bible tells us that all are sinners. In other words, all are the exact opposite of righteous. Sinners are not ethical, nor moral, nor just. In fact, even the good humans do are considered as filthy rags in God’s sight. The translation in the verse which tells us this is actually, filthy like a menstrual cloth.

“but we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousness are as filthy rags;( a menstrual cloth) and we all do fade as a leaf, and all our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away. ” Isaiah 64: 6

Human so called goodness, is not good in God’s eyes, because all mankind’s efforts to attain righteousness fall short. Sin taints all the “good ” efforts. For example, if a sinner gives to the poor it in no way justifies all other behavior, such as lying, hypocrisy, fornication etc..

The Bible tells us that if we offend in just one point of the law then we have broken them all! God demands absolute 100% perfection in our behavior to be considered righteous. That is why if you put yourself under the law to attain righteousness, even if you believe in Jesus, you cannot be saved. Those seeking to be justified by the law will die in their sins.

Scriptures tell us that Jesus Christ is our righteousness (1Corinthians 1:30). We cannot have a right relationship with God in our own righteousness because our self-righteousness is as filthy rags.

We are guilty sinners in the need of a perfect righteousness from a perfect Savior (Rom. 3:23; Jer. 17:9; Mark 7:20-23).

When we receive Jesus as our Savior he saves us from our sin and then we are justified, ONCE AND FOR ALL.  By grace through faith in Jesus Christ, APART FROM THE DEEDS OF THE LAW.

Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.: Romans 8:23

Christians are clothed in the RIGHTEOUSNESS OF JESUS CHRIST. He is the basis of our acceptance with God and nothing else. God has IMPUTED (attributed to our account) the righteousness of Jesus Christ to the sinner.

Humans cannot produce the righteousness God requires. It has to be given to person as a free gift by Jesus Christ  the Savior. When a person receives Jesus Christ as their Savior, the faith in his ability to save them, is accounted to Christians as their righteousness (Rom. 3:23; Gal. 3:26).

Jesus Christ Himself becomes the Christian’s righteousness 2 Cor. 5:21

Won’t you receive Jesus Christ and his righteousness today?

2 Corinthians 5:17-21King James Version (KJV)

Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.

Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God. For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him

Walk in the Light

walk-in-the-light-joanna-jungjohann

Darkness is the absence of light. When light enters into the darkness it illuminates in the darkness. The Bible says that Darkness was “on the face of the deep” prior to creation.  What this means is that all was darkness.  The earth was “without form and void”, which means that the earth was not made and was not in existence. We know that light is energy and cannot be destroyed. It can however, change into matter.  The Bible says that God is light and in him is no darkness at all. God’s energy creates matter. He created the natural realm by forming matter into the darkness.

The Bible also says that God spoke into the darkness and then light appeared. When God speaks from the spiritual realm then action occurs according to God’s command. The natural realm responds and performs the creating by natural occurrences. This principal is the same in other areas of darkness, such as sin, which is the absence of godliness. God is sinless. He has no darkness and therefore he has no sin.

When sin entered the world, the only way to have God’s light was to have it contained in the Holy of Holies in the Ark of the Covenant under the Old Testament and the sacrificial system or through the cleansing of the blood sacrifice for sin and the born again experience. Again the light is in a contained situation, for now. God’s light is in his people. We are now the light to the world.

Sinful humanity walks in darkness. All nature is under sin until God creates a new heaven and earth. This is why Jesus took on a body. God became flesh and dwelt among us. The human body of Jesus contained the light of God and that is why he said, “I am the light of the world” and again “while I am with you, you have the light”.

Sin lives in the darkness; a life without the light of God. Scriptures say that those in sin rebel against the light. They don’t like it. Why? This is simply because the light reveals to them their sin. With the conscience seared, sinful humanity can justify sin. This is why the light is needed to expose sin, so that the sinner sees sin for what it really is. God’s truth brings light. The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of truth. He is the illuminator of sin. In other words the Holy Spirit reveals the sin as the darkness that it really is.

The Bible says that men are stumbling around in darkness and do not know where they are going. They are headed for an eternity in outer darkness away from all light and they do not realize this. God’s judgment is upon all sinners because they like the darkness and do not want to come to the light to have their deeds exposed. But those who are drawn by the Holy Spirit and come to the light to see their sin for the darkness that it is, will find out that their sins can be forgiven, through Jesus Christ.

Those who belong to God have renounced the hidden things of darkness and walk in the light. This means that the light in them, God’s light, reveals sin on a constant base and as they are confessed they are forgiven. Confession brings sin to the light. Scriptures tell us that “he who hides his sin will not prosper but he who confesses his sin will have mercy.” Proverbs 28:13

The Greek word for light is Phos which means to make manifest. To illuminate, make known, reveal.  According to Acts 26:18, Jesus came to turn sinners from darkness to light.

In the old testament YHWY is Israel’s light which makes known his laws “O house of Jacob, come and let us walk in the light of the Lord.” Isaiah 2:5

In the New Testament, “walking in the light” means to follow Jesus, who said, “I am the light of the world. He who follows me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life” John 8:12

When we walk in the light as God is in the light then we have relationship with him and the blood of Jesus cleanses us from all sin. 1John 1:7

Jesus said that he was the light of life. In other words, Jesus is ZOE, a God given Christ like life which is eternal. Walk in the light as he is in the light!

“Can anyone hide in the secret places so that I cannot see him?” declares the Lord. “Do I not fill heaven and earth?” declares the Lord. Jer 23:24

Jer 16:17 “My eyes are on all their ways; they are not hidden from me, nor is their sin concealed from my eyes.”

John 3:19-21 “This is the judgment: that light has entered the world, and men have preferred darkness to light because their deeds were evil. Everybody who does wrong hates the light and keeps away from it, for fear his deeds may be exposed. But everybody who is living by the truth will come to the light to make it plain that all he has done has been done through God.”

Ps 90:8 You have set our iniquities before you, our secret sins in the light of your presence.

Job 12:22 He reveals the deep things of darkness and brings deep shadows into the light.

Job 28:11  [God] … brings hidden things to light.

Dan 2:22 He reveals deep and hidden things; he knows what lies in darkness, and light dwells with him.

1 Cor 4:5b   He will bring into the light of day all that at present is hidden in darkness, and he will expose the secret motives of men’s hearts.

Luke 18:13- “But the tax collector stood at a distance… and said, ‘God, have mercy on me, a sinner.’ I tell you that this man… went home justified before God. For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.”

Acts 19:18 Many of those who believed now came and openly confessed their evil deeds.

1 Tim 5:20 Those [elders] who sin are to be rebuked publicly, so that others may take warning.

Rom 13:12 The night is almost over, it will be daylight soon; let us give up the things we prefer to do under cover of the dark; let us arm ourselves and appear in the light.

2 Cor 4:2,6  ) We have renounced secret and shameful ways… For God who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” made his light shine in our hearts to give us the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.

Eph 5:8-14a once you were “darkness”, but now as Christians you are “light”. Live then as children of the light.

2 Sam 22:29 you are my lamp, O Lord; the Lord turns my darkness into light.

Ps 27:1 The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

Mat 5:14-16 “You are the world’s light; it is impossible to hide a town built on top of a hill. Men do not light a lamp and put it under a bucket. They put it on a lampstand, and it gives light for everybody in the house.”

Pr 4:18-19 The path of the righteous is like the first gleam of dawn, shining ever brighter till the full light of day. But the way of the wicked is like deep darkness; they do not know what makes them stumble.

John 8:12b “I am the light of the world; anyone who follows me will not be walking in the dark; he will have the light of life.”
