The scriptures say that unless we “drink His Blood” we have no life in us but when we partake of what Jesus Christ has done for us on the cross we can then have eternal life.

Jesus said to his disciples, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in you but whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. For My flesh is food indeed, and My blood is drink indeed. He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood abides in Me, and I in him. John 6:53

Christians are purchased by the blood of Jesus Christ. It is the shed blood of the lamb that was poured out as an offering once for all for God’s elect. The blood of Jesus Christ paid the penalty for sin and delivered the Christian from the ownership of the devil.

Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption [for us].Hebrews 9:12

Therefore take heed to yourselves and to all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which He purchased with His own blood.Acts 20:28

Christians are saved from God’s wrath by having faith in the blood of Jesus Christ.

Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through FAITH IN HIS BLOOD, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God. To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus. Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith. Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law. Romans 3: 24-28

The blood of Jesus Christ gives the Christian forgiveness of sins. For this is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins. Matthew 26:28

In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace. Ephesians 1:7

To Him who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood. Revelation 1:5

In whom we have redemption through his blood, [even] the forgiveness of sins. Colossians 1:14

The blood of the lamb also purchased Christians from the old man and the power of sin.

knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot. 1 Peter 1:18-19

To be redeemed by the blood of Jesus means to be purchased from slavery or the ownership of another. The blood of Jesus Christ is the purchase price that has translated (moved from one place to another) us from darkness of unbelief, slaves of sin and children of the wicked one.

Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins
Colossians 1:13,14

The blood of Jesus gives Christian access to the throne of God to pray for our needs and the needs of others.

Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus. Hebrews 10:19-22

The Christian’s bodies were bought for God by Jesus Christ and he now owns them and has filled them with His Holy Spirit. God now dwells in his people who are now his temples. Our temples are consecrated for his glory and set apart for service to him.

Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20

Christians are now walking in God’s light, the same light that God commanded to shine in our hearts, the blood of Jesus continually cleanses us from all sin.

But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. 1 John 1:7

Christian’s are made righteous or justified (just as if you never sinned) by the blood of Jesus Christ. Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him. Romans 5:9

God’s elect are no longer under wrath or condemnation like the world but rather the blood of Jesus Christ makes Christians righteous before God imparting holiness and a continual sanctification of his holiness.

Therefore Jesus also, that He might sanctify the people with His own blood, suffered outside the gate. Hebrews10:29, 13:12

Now God’s elect have a clean conscience before God.

How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without spot to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?

God’s elect have been given full assurance of faith, because we are assured of our salvation because of the blood of Jesus!

Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh, and having a High Priest over the house of God, let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful. Hebrews 10:19-23

The blood of Jesus gives the Christian peace with God.

But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ. For He Himself is our peace, who has made both one, and has broken down the middle wall of separation Ephesians 2:13

The blood of Jesus gives the Christian victory over the devil and his angels. Satan cannot defeat the blood bought saints whether in life or death for they are purchased by God through the blood of the lamb.

And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death. Revelation 5:9-10

The blood of Jesus makes all of God’s elect one in the Holy Spirit. And they sang a new song, saying: “You are worthy to take the scroll, And to open its seals; For You were slain, And have redeemed us to God by Your blood, Out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation, And have made us kings and priests to our God; And we shall reign on the earth .

If My Words Abide in You

An important part of praying is to pray scriptures. This is because praying scriptures brings assurance that we are praying according to God’s will.

If you abide in me and my words abide in you, ask whatever you will, and it shall be done for you” John 15:7

“If we ask anything according to his will he hears us” John 15:14

For example, the early church prayed according to scriptures, they quoted Psalm 2.

And when they heard that, they lifted up their voice to God with one accord, and said, Lord, thou art God, which hast made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all that in them is: Who by the mouth of thy servant David hast said, Why did the heathen rage, and the people imagine vain things? The kings of the earth stood up, and the rulers were gathered together against the Lord, and against his Christ. For of a truth against thy holy child Jesus, whom thou hast anointed, both Herod, and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles, and the people of Israel, were gathered together, For to do whatsoever thy hand and thy counsel determined before to be done. And now, Lord, behold their threatenings: and grant unto thy servants, that with all boldness they may speak thy word, By stretching forth thine hand to heal; and that signs and wonders may be done by the name of thy holy child Jesus. And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness.”

When we pray God’s word with a pure heart he performs it because it is his perfect will.

Then the LORD said to me, “You have seen well, for I am watching over my word to perform it.” Isaiah 5:11

Jereimah 1:12 “So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it

Psalm 114: 15 “He sendeth forth his commandment upon earth: his word runneth very swiftly. “

How do we pray God’s word? We apply a scripture for our particular situation and pray it to the Father in Jesus name.

Here is a link to find some scripture verses for different needs.

Ye Are All One in Christ Jesus.

What does the Bible mean by “a women must have a head covering to pray and prophecy in church? ”

“And every woman who prays or prophesies with her head uncovered dishonors her head—it is just as though her head were shaved. If a woman does not cover her head, she should have her hair cut off; and if it is a disgrace for a woman to have her hair cut or shaved off, she should cover her head.” Corinthians 11:3-16

Paul is using “head” as a metaphor for authority: Christ has authority over the male, the male has authority over the female, and God has authority over Christ. But also the head covering was a cultural sign of submission. In Corinth head coverings were a social custom just as it is today in some cultures. However, in some cultures hats can also be signs of worldly significance. So, we must remember that Paul was addressing an attitude not presenting a ritual observance.

“Now I want you to realize that the head of every man is Christ, and the head of the woman is man, and the head of Christ is God” Corinthians 11:3-16

The man on the other hand must not have his head covered or long according to scripture. This is because the head represents authority. Long hair in Corinth was a sign of rebellion and promiscuity. We must remember that just as our culture today has symbols of rebellion so did the past. Today maybe the over emphasis on piercings might qualify as a display of rebellion as well as the pants falling off the backside of men which originated in USA prisons to declare availability for sexual relationships.

So, we can see that it is the display of worldly rebellion that is being addressed here rather than a religious ritual. This may differ from culture to culture.

Each culture has different views on what is socially acceptable for church and as women we need to be sensitive to this. While women of the west will wear a swim suit at the beach it is not socially acceptable to wear one to church and while women may wear hats or coverings in other countries to church it is not necessary in the west.

What about a women speaking or teaching in church? First of all when we read any historical document we must remember to read within the social context of the time and not try to apply everything literal to today. Paul said that both men AND women were being moved to speak by the Holy Spirit in church but it was not socially expectable at that time for a woman to speak with her head uncovered as it showed rebellion to the head, or authority, both of God and men.

What about this scripture?

Let a woman learn in silence with all submission. And I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man, but to be in silence. 1 Timothy 2:11-12

What many do not look at is the emphasis here. Paul is saying that the woman must not have authority OVER the man but this does not in anyway forbid women to teach in the church.

The following scripture has no gender emphasis but is an exhortation to ALL members of the body of Christ.

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. Colossians 3:16

Priscilla taught along with her husband.

This man had been instructed in the way of the Lord; and being fervent in spirit, he spoke and taught accurately the things of the Lord, though he knew only the baptism of John. So he began to speak boldly in the synagogue. When Aquila and Priscilla heard him, they took him aside and explained to him the way of God more accurate. Acts 18:25-26

In conclusion, scriptures make it clear than women can teach in church. To prophecy is to speak under inspiration of the Holy Spirit who is called the comforter and teacher.  Women are not to be OVER men in authority for they are created as equals in the kingdom of God and if you don’t believe that then you are calling the Holy Spirit a liar when he spoke through Paul. Quite frankly to forbid women to teach in the churches is sinning against the body of Jesus Christ.

For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. And if ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise. Galatians 3:26-29

Afflictions of the Righteous

Even though the devil is responsible for tempting, attacks by people and other adverse circumstance, we must not only look at what the devil is trying to do but what God is trying to say to us through the adversity. While Satan may hinder he can never stop the will of God. Our trials may have godly reasons and not only evil intents of the enemy.

Take Job for example, the Lord gave the devil permission to attack him. As I have written about in a prior blog, Job had the sin of self righteousness, he thought that he was a pretty good guy until the Lord showed him through his trials that he wasn’t all that godly.

This still happens today. Satan is still accusing us before God’s throne. What is God trying to show us about the sin in our life through the trial? What unrighteousness do we need to recognize and repent of? Paul tells us that ALL THINGS are working together for our good and this includes our trials and tribulations.

Are we being persecuted? Do we really love our enemy or do we retaliate when offended? Are we being evil spoken of? Do we care so much about our reputations or are we serving Jesus and willing to suffer persecution as he suffered persecution? Are we experiencing financial lack? Do we love the things of the world more that God? Are we willing to live on less for his sake sometimes? How about our pretentious faith when the going gets tough? Do we try to fake it or just let go and let God?

The Lord speaks to us through the afflictions that he allows to happen in our life. Satan can do nothing unless God allows it. He has no power above that. The Bible says that God works all things out for our good, for a divine purpose, and not just to come to our rescue every time we have a battle. The lessons of life are meant to teach us and train us to be godly. What is God trying to teach you through your trial right now?

And Satan stood up against Israel, and provoked David to number Israel” 1chronicles 21:1

And the Lord said unto Satan, Behold, all that he hath is in thy power; only upon himself put not forth thine hand. So Satan went forth from the presence of the Lord.” Job 1:12

Satan falsely accuses Job (Job 1:9,10;2:4,5)

BLASPHEMY » INSTANCES OF » Two disciples, Hymenaeus and Alexander, who Beguiled by Satan (Genesis 3; 2 Corinthians 11:3;

1 Timothy 2:14)were delivered to Satan, so that they could learn not to blaspheme (2 Timothy 1:20)

That no man should be moved by these afflictions: for yourselves know that we are appointed thereunto. “ 1 Thessalonians 3:3

Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God;” 2 Timothy 1:8

But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry. “ 2 Timothy 4:5

Take, my brethren, the prophets, who have spoken in the name of the Lord, for an example of suffering affliction, and of patience.” James 5:10

And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.” Romans 8:28.29

Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the Lord delivereth him out of them all.” Psalm 34:19

Persecutions, afflictions, which came unto me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra; what persecutions I endured: but out of [them] all the Lord delivered me.” 2 Timothy 3:11

Be patient in affliction the Bible says for God is doing a work in our hearts!

Christian Humanism

Christians who deny the Biblical doctrine of total depravity are humanist Christians. In other words they add human goodness to the Adamic fallen nature. The Bible says that man is not good. There is nothing good in man at all outside of salvation by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. According to scriptures, mankind is dead in trespasses and sin. That means just what it says! DEAD!

The fallen nature is corrupt. (depraved) Nothing is good in man. Not in the mind, the will, or the emotions which are all part of the brain process. In the Old Testament when God told the Israelites to choose life, what he was saying was to choose to be under the law and the animal sacrifice system in order to be right with God. The new covenant was not in effect back then and so men had to be under God’s grace system at that time which was a temporary covering for sin. It was not in any way a heart changing system.

To say today that man must choose his salvation is to say that some part of man is inherently good which is not scriptural. What does the Bible really say about man’s condition in the fallen nature? Let me show you.

Romans 3: 9-31
What then? Are we better than they? No, in no wise: for we have before proved both Jews and Gentiles, that they are all under sin,
As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:
There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God.

They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.
Their throat is an open sepulchre; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips: Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness:

Their feet are swift to shed blood: Destruction and misery are in their ways, And the way of peace have they not known, There is no fear of God before their eyes. Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God. Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.

But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe, for there is no difference:

For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God, Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:

Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God.

Is he the God of the Jews only? is he not also of the Gentiles? Yes, of the Gentiles also: Seeing it is one God, which shall justify the circumcision by faith, and uncircumcision through faith. Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law.

Why is it that people think they can choose salvation? Why do they think that they can accept Jesus Christ? This is an unscriptural doctrine. Man has no good, he cannot choose any good for he does not seek God and in fact he CANNOT do good! Scriptures tell us clearly that man is in ENMITY (deep seated hatred) with God and is not subject to his laws and indeed CANNOT submit to his laws!

Because the carnal mind (sinful nature) is enmity (hatred) against God: for it IS NOT subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.” Romans 8:7

Many Christians have mixed the doctrine of humanism with the gospel of Jesus Christ. What does the doctrine of humanism teach? That Man is good in the state of nature.

What part of man is good so that he can freely choose the gospel? The soul? The spirit? The flesh? Did you know that the will is a function of the brain? Cut out that part of the brain and one cannot make rational choices.

The Bible says that there is none good, all are corrupt, (Depraved), all have the devil’s nature, unless God grants them repentance unto life through faith in Jesus Christ!

And Jesus said to him, “Why do you call me good? No one is good except God alone.” Mark 10:18/Luke 18:19

The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it?” Jeremiah 17:9 –

To the defiled and unbelieving, nothing is pure; but both their minds and their consciences are defiled. Titus 1:15-16

You must no longer walk as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their minds. They are darkened in their understanding, alienated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them, due to their hardness of heart. Ephesians 4:17-18

Whoever trusts in his own [heart] is a fool Proverbs 28:26

The Joy of the Lord is our Strength!

Having joy is not synonymous with happiness or wealth or getting everything that we want. Joy sometimes comes at great cost and the blessing derived may bring contentment but may also bring suffering and persecution.

The definition of joy in the English dictionary is: a source of great happiness, success in doing, finding, or getting something. The old English word for happiness was equated with having luck or being fortunate. Today it means feeling or showing pleasure or contentment, being fortunate and convenient.

The English word for Joy does not really define the right meaning in which the Hebrew and Greek words for joy are defined. For example, joy is some OT verses use the word simchah –mirth gladness ps.15:23 or Ranan-to overcome, to cry out for joy psalm 5:11 psalm 35: 27 or Samach- to rejoice, be glad psalm 21:1 psalm 51:8 or Rinnah-entreaty, supplication, proclamation, joy, praise, in proclamation, joy, praise ps. 30:5 ps.35:27 ps.126:5 or sasown- exultation, joy ps.35:27

The Greek word for joy is chara- meaning gladness, to be pleased; delighted, Mirth- (amusement, especially as expressed in laughter) grace, favor Matt. 28:8 Luke 1:14John 15:11John 16:24 Romans 14:17 Gal.5:22

None of these words for Joy are defined in the Bible as being fortunate, convenient, happy, satisfaction enjoyment, or a state of happiness.

Biblical joy is equated with overcoming, praise, exaltation, or salutation (blessing), singing, shouting dancing, having grace and favor.

Then he said to them, “Go your way. Eat the fat and drink sweet wine and send portions to anyone who has nothing ready, for this day is holy to our Lord. And do not be grieved, for the joy of the LORD is your strength.” Nehemiah 8:10

In conclusion, Biblical joy is not the same as the English word for happy but rather is equated with praising and having God’s favor which brings victory and of course then brings absolute delight and laughter. Even in times of trouble we can have the joy of the Lord because we as Christians know that Jesus is the Victor!

SOVEREIGN Grace or Prevenient Grace ?

gracetumblr_msx8tgyhr81rewybao1_1280The Arminian doctrine of “Prevenient Grace,” Taught by some Christian denominations is defined by John Wesley as “Human beings are totally incapable of responding to God without God first empowering them to have faith. This empowerment is known as “Prevenient Grace.”

Prevenient Grace doesn’t save us but, rather, comes before anything that we do, drawing us to God, making us WANT to come to God, and enabling us to have faith in God. Prevenient Grace is Universal, in as much as all humans receive it, regardless of their having heard of Jesus. It is manifested in the deep-seated desire of most humans to know God.

What is the difference between that and the scriptural doctrine of SOVEREIGN grace? I will show you. This doctrine is not an effectual grace. In other words it is a grace that is presented to a person but not bestowed as a free gift to the person. That type of grace is dependent on man’s choice or man’s initiative; therefore I make my argument that it is not the same grace as the bible teaches.

According to scriptures a person makes a decision based on the condition of his heart.

“A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.” Matthew 7:18

If as the bible says, man’s heart is desperately wicked, has no good, (Jeremiah 17:9) how then can he choose anything good? How can a desperately sinful heart desire after God ?

Scriptures tell us that the sinful heart cannot submit to God’s laws, not “will not submit” but rather CANNOT submit.

“Sin is still hostile to God and cannot submit to His law” Rom. 8:7

It is only after the heart is filled with faith which comes from hearing God’s word can a person receive Jesus Christ. The blind man cannot see unless his eyes are opened and scriptures tell us that “the god of this world has blinded people’s eyes (their understanding)

“ In whom the god of this age has blinded the minds of them who believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.” 2 Corinthians 4:4

Scripture tell us why some people do not believe the gospel. “You do not believe because you are not my sheep” John 10

“Whoever is of God hears the words of God. The reason why you do not hear them is that you are not of God.” John 8:47

The bible tells us that it is the condition of one’s heart which is the determining factor in receiving Jesus Christ as Savior. When one is given a new heart then he/she can receive the things of God but not until then. “And I will also give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit within you. And I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give to you a heart of flesh. And I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you shall keep My judgments and do them ” Ezek. 36:26-27

The regenerated person becomes then a NEW CREATION.

So that if anyone [is] in Christ, [he] is a new creation; the old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new 2Co. 5:17

The old things, include the old heart, and this is removed by God. The Holy Spirit makes a person anew! (born again)

The doctrine of “prevenient grace” would make a person partly regenerate but man’s will (or nature) does the rest or completes it. This doctrine is not scriptural.

What do scriptures really teach? Scriptures teach that Man’s heart is totally depraved (corrupt) and cannot come to God by choice because of the fallen nature which is in opposition to God and all that is God. Man is blind in his dark heart (understanding and nature) and therefore a man must be given a new heart by God because he cannot save himself nor does he want to be saved.

“And you were dead in the trespasses and sins in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience— among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body and the mind, and were BY NATURE children of wrath, like the rest of mankind.” Ephesians 2:1-3

The bible clearly teaches that the Father has set apart certain persons for Himself while excluding others who were not “given” to Him.

John 17: 9 , “I am praying for them. I am not praying for the world but for those whom you have given me, for they are yours.”

“And when the Gentiles heard this, they began rejoicing and glorifying the word of the Lord, and as many as were appointed to eternal life believed.” Acts 13:48

“But ye believe not, BECAUSE ye are not of My sheep” John 10:26

“Therefore THEY COULD NOT BELIEVE because He hath blinded their eyes and hardened their heart; that they should not see with their eyes, nor understand with their heart, and be converted…” See John 12:37-40

“According as HE HATH CHOSEN us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love: Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will.” Ephesians 1:4-5

“But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning CHOSEN you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth: Whereunto He called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.” 2 Thessalonians 2:13-14

In a coming day the Lord Jesus Christ will say to many false professors of the true faith: “I NEVER KNEW YOU: depart from Me, ye that work iniquity.” Matthew 7:23

“I am the good shepherd, and KNOW My sheep, and am KNOWN of mine. As the Father KNOWETH Me, even so KNOW I the Father: and I lay down my life for the sheep…My sheep hear My voice, and I KNOW them, and they follow Me.” John 10:14, 15, 27

In conclusion, the doctrine of sovereign grace is scriptural grace while the Arminian doctrine of prevenient grace is unscriptural. Therefore I make my argument than man cannot come to Jesus Christ without the ability of God and so it is according to God’s good pleasure whom he saves. Our job is to preach the gospel and according to the bible, it is God’s job to give the increase of the harvest. SOLA SCRIPTURA!
