Jesus Christ Fullfilled the Law: IT IS FINNISHED

Jesus Christ is the fulfillment of the law. He kept it completely and fully. No one can keep the law or Jesus would not have needed to come. Only that which is of the Holy Spirit in us is good, all else falls short of God’s glory. Flesh is in enmity with God and always will be until we are given our new bodies for eternity.

Prior to the Crucifixion and resurrection: Truly, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not a…n iota, not a dot, will pass from the Law until all is accomplished” Matthew 5:17–20

On the cross-“It is finished!” And He bowed His head and gave up His spirit. John 19:30

After the resurrection: For Christ is the END OF THE LAW for righteousness to everyone who believes. ROMANS 10:4

Christ is the end of the law. Christ fulfilled the law. Those who believe on the completed, accomplished work of Jesus Christ receive the righteousness of God. Now we are under the law of the Spirit of life and liberty in Christ Jesus …not the old Testament law. IT IS ABOLISHED!!

We are not made righteous because of our good work but rather because of the completed work of Jesus Christ on the cross and after his resurrection when he sprinkled his blood on the mercy seat in heaven.

Jesus Christ was sacrificed for us. For our sins. The just for the unjust. Jesus was our Passover.  He fulfilled all the law and accomplished for us his righteousness and redemption when he was crucified on the cross. When Jesus was sacrificed on the cross for our sins he had fulfilled  ALL the law. Nothing was left undone in his completed work! The bible says that he who knew no sin BECAME SIN so that we could have imputed to us(accredited to our account) HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS.

Philippians 3:9:
And be found in him (Christ), not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law,
But that which is through the faith (accomplished believing) of Christ, the righteousness
Which is of God by faith (believing)

We do not have to keep the law in order to establish our own righteousness by our own works because we are righteous because of the accomplished work of Jesus Christ. Righteousness is imputed to us (accredited to our account because of Jesus)

2 Corinthians 5:21 “he became sin so that you and I might be made the righteousness of God in him.”

Romans 3:24:
Being justified freely by his (God’s) grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:

1 Corinthians 5:7:
For even Christ our Passover is sacrificed for us:

Jesus Christ is now our Sabbath rest and we no longer have to observe the Sabbath day for those who are in Christ Jesus are now free from the law of Moses which could not justify us from sin.  Just as men are no longer obligated to be circumcised they are no longer obligated to keep the Old Testament Sabbath which is under the Leviticus priesthood and the law of Moses.

The Sabbath symbolized the coming of the Messiah, so if you are still keeping the Sabbath then you have placed yourself back under the law.

The Sabbath day rest God instituted as a foreshadowing of our complete rest in Christ . He blessed it, sanctified it, and made it holy. The Sabbath was a symbol of Christ the messiah.  Christ IS our Sabbath rest. He is the holy, perfect Son of God who sanctifies and makes holy all who trust in Him.

God sanctified Christ, just as He sanctified the Sabbath day, and sent Him into the world to be our sacrifice for sin. In Him we find complete rest from the labors of our self-efforts because JESUS alone is holy and righteous.

“God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God” 2 Corinthians 5:2

We can now cease from our spiritual labors and rest in Him, not just one day a week, but always.

As God incarnate  Jesus is our Sabbath rest in the flesh. He is “Lord of the Sabbath” Matthew 12:8

There is no other Sabbath rest besides Jesus. He alone satisfies the requirements of the Law, and He alone provides the sacrifice that atones for sin.  Jesus is God’s plan for us to cease from the labor of our own works. By continuing to keep the Sabbath law we are rejecting the New Testament salvation in Jesus Christ.

Please don’t reject God’s Sabbath rest in Jesus Christ and continue to observe the law, which has been fulfilled in Christ.  “There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God; for anyone who enters God’s rest also rests from his own work, just as God did from his. Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will fall by following their example of disobedience” Hebrews 4:9-11

You Must Be Born Again

John 3:3-7 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother’s womb, and be born? Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and [of] the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.

What did Jesus mean by this statement? Nicodemus thought Christ was referring to “that which is born of the flesh” type of birth but Jesus Christ was not talking about a physical birth from a mother’s womb as the “birth” that must be repeated. The birth that is “born of the Spirit” must occur in order for  one to see the kingdom of God and receive salvation.

What Jesus meant was that a person must experience a spiritual rebirth. The Bible says that man is separated from God due to the Adamic sinful nature and needs to be reconciled to with God by becoming what the Bible calls a new creature in Jesus Christ. A spiritually dead person can no more give himself spiritual life that a physically dead person can give himself physical live.

The born again experience requires a supernatural act on the part of God. We get into the family of God in precisely the same way that we get into our human family, by being born into it. By this supernatural act, God Himself, through His Holy Spirit, sovereignly takes us out of the kingdom of Satan and places us in His spiritual kingdom by a spiritual rebirth.

No man can come to me, except the Father that sent me draw him” John 6:44

All that the Father giveth me shall come unto me; and he that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out” John 6:3

But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name.” John 1:12

In conclusi0n, in order to be saved from death and hell one must become born again. Only God can make this happen. How? By asking him to save you through Jesus Christ the Savior. If you are really sincere, he will hear you for he says that whoever comes to him he will not turn away !

Fruits of Righteousness

Fruits of righteousness are the working of Christ within us. They come from Christ, and not from our own selves.

Hosea 14:8, From me is thy fruit found. Who is wise, and he shall understand these things? prudent, and he shall know them? for the ways of the LORD are right, and the just shall walk in them: but the transgressors shall fall therein.

Philippians 1:11,  Being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which ARE BY Jesus Christ, unto the glory and praise of God.

Romans 7:18,   For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh) dwells no good thing: Nevertheless, God has chosen to work His good works through us.

God has chosen to use his people as His vessels  for bearing his fruit. These Spirit produced fruits are works of righteousness that  are the working of His Grace and do not originate from our own ability.

Therefore, all the glory and praise and credit for those works should go to Him; the excellency of the power is of God, and not of us  2Corinthians 4:7

The power or ability to do good works come from the Holy Spirit who dwells in the vessel by his grace. There is no good thing that dwells in us as Paul says. In us dwells no good thing Romans 7:18

Each good work is actually a  gift from the LORD given  through uis to bless others.

Ecclesiastes 3:12,13  I know that there is no good in them, but for a man to rejoice, and to do good in his life. And also that every man should eat and drink, and enjoy the good of all his labour, it is the gift of God.

God ordains us to bear the fruits of righteousness that he wants each of us to bear. True Christians are the vessels that God uses to pour forth his Spirit to  minister his mercy and grace to others.

Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone, but if it dies, it bears much fruit John 12:23, 24

You have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that you should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatever you shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you. John 15:16

True Salvation is evident by the bearing of fruit in our lives. We are not saved by bearing fruit, but if we are truly saved then the fruits of righteousness will be evident in our life.

Hosea 14:8 Ephraim shall say, What have I to do anymore with idols? I have heard him, and observed him: I am like a green fir tree. From me is thy fruit found.

Bearing fruit is the result of first hearing God’s word and then walking in the word which has been revealed to us.

For the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, whereof ye heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel; Which is come unto you, as it is in all the world; and bringeth forth fruit, as it doth also in you, since the day ye heard of it, and knew the grace of God in truth. Colossians 1:5,6

Being filled with the fruits of righteousness which are by Jesus Christ, unto the glory and praise of God. Philippians 1:11

The saints are called “trees of righteousness” in Isaiah 61:3.

How does a Christian bring forth fruit?

He brings forth fruit in the vine. By nature we are barren producing no life. There is not one good thing growing in us  but when by faith in the gospel we are engrafted into Christ, then we will grow and bear fruit. John 15:4: “Just as a branch is unable to produce fruit by itself unless it remains on the vine, so neither can you unless you remain in Me.”

Jesus Christ is that blessed Root which shoots up that sap of grace into His branches.

Solomon 5:1: “I have gathered My myrrh with My spice.”

Jesus does not say, “your myrrh,” but “My myrrh.”

If we bear any spiritual fruit in our lives it is Christ’s myrrh ,his sweet smelling sacrifice.

Hosea 14:8: “From Me is your fruit found.”

The Christian brings forth the fruit of love, joy, peace, patience, gentleness, goodness, and faith, meekness, temperance.Galatians 5:22

When we are  set free from the law of sin and death we are under a new law, the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus. This law is of faith and not of self righteous deeds.

Romans 6:14, “You are not under law but under grace”.

Therefore glorify God in your vessels, as vessels of honour unto holiness, which comes by abiding continually in the vine and producing fruits of righteousness.

JESUS CHRIST PURCHASED HIS SHEEP WITH HIS OWN BLOOD and so to add works to his sacrifice is in effect to say that, HIS WORK is just not good enough. What is self effort?

We must do this for God
I must do this for God
You must do this for God
They must do this for God

The bible says that the Holy Spirit changes his elect and makes them acceptable to God by the washing of the word and the renewal of the Holy Spirit, (born again) The blood of Jesus cleanses from all unrighteousness and not works of any kind.

For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure Philippians 2:13

When we belong to God then we have the Holy Spirit living in us and through us so that we can do the works that each of us individually are called to do by God’s grace and power and not by any self effort.

I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me; and the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. I do not nullify the grace of God; for if justification were through the law, then Christ died to no purpose. Galatians 2:20-21

Christianity is called the exchanged life. We give up all our self effort and rest in God’s ability. We cease from all works! That is why Jesus has become our Sabbath rest now.

You know that those who are supposed to rule over the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great men exercise authority over them. But it shall not be so among you; but whoever would be great among you must be your servant, and whoever would be first among you must be slave of all. For the Son of man also came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” Mark 10:24-45

If salvation were by grace through faith plus a pilgrimage to Jerusalem or a gift of $50 to the Church, we would be saying through all eternity, “ I am glad I paid that money to the church.” We would share the glory of our salvation. And God does not wish to share His glory with anyone not even with us!

If anyone adds any work to salvation in anyway they are nullifying the cross and rejecting the atonement of Jesus Christ . If one adds their works or good deeds to the gospel he/she has fallen from grace, and grace no longer applies to them. They have put themselves under the law and will be judged by that law at the judgment seat of God.

The Bible says to repent of dead works and come to Jesus Christ for his salvation. How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? Hebrews 9:14

For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God Romans 10:3

How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him Hebrews 2:3

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:Not of works, lest any man should boast. Eph 2:9

And be found in him not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith. Phillipians 3:9

In conclusion, the cross is enough to save! The blood of Jesus is enough to save! Adding a good deed of any kind rescinds the new covenant between God and man. The Gospel is all about GRACE! GRACE to save, GRACE to sanctify and GRACE to justify!

All our works are unacceptable to God. They do not earn our salvation and nor do they keep our salvation. Works of the flesh will not justify you with God. Rightousness must be of faith in the righteousness of Jesus Christ who alone produces works of righteousness through his people who are filled with his Holy Spirit.

The bible says that God’s people are CREATED unto good works which God has ORDAINED for us to walk in. Works are a result of salvation BUT they do not save you and nor can they keep you saved.

The Hebrew word for righteousness is tzedek, righteous, integrity, equity, justice, straightness. It is best understood as the product of upright, moral action in accordance with some form of divine plan.

Jesus is our rightousness. He is the one who performs acts of righteousness through his people.

Is an attribute of God.It means to adhere to ethical conduct. God is a righteous saviour. He is the authour of righteousness.

The bible says that Christians are KEPT by the power of God until that day! If you are born again you are Gods sheep and he will never let you fall. For he that is faithful has promised.

Isaiah 64:6

But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.

Isaiah 61:10,11

I will greatly rejoice in the LORD, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for he hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, he hath covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decketh himself with ornaments, and as a bride adorneth herself with her jewels. For as the earth bringeth forth her bud, and as the garden causeth the things that are sown in it to spring forth; so the Lord GOD will cause righteousness and praise to spring forth before all the nations.

Acts Chapter 3

Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk. And he took him by the right hand, and lifted him up: and immediately his feet and ancle bones received strength. And he leaping up stood, and walked, and entered with them into the temple, walking, and leaping, and praising God. And all the people saw him walking and praising God: And they knew that it was he which sat for alms at the Beautiful gate of the temple: and they were filled with wonder and amazement at that which had happened unto him. And as the lame man which was healed held Peter and John, all the people ran together unto them in the porch that is called Solomon’s, greatly wondering. when Peter saw it, he answered unto the people, Ye men of Israel, why marvel ye at this? or why look ye so earnestly on us, as though by our own power or holiness we had made this man to walk?

The God of Abraham, and of Isaac, and of Jacob, the God of our fathers, hath glorified his Son Jesus; whom ye delivered up, and denied him in the presence of Pilate, when he was determined to let him go. But ye denied the Holy One and the Just, and desired a murderer to be granted unto you; And killed the Prince of life, whom God hath raised from the dead; whereof we are witnesses. And his name through faith in his name hath made this man strong, whom ye see and know: yea, the faith which is by him hath given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all.

We can only perform good works by the power of the holy Spirit. Outside of that all works are as filthy rags in his sight.

Titus 2:14

For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.

Romans Chapter 10

For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge. For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God. For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.

For Moses describeth the righteousness which is of the law, That the man which doeth those things shall live by them. But the righteousness which is of faith speaketh on this wise, Say not in thine heart, Who shall ascend into heaven? (that is, to bring Christ down from above) Or, Who shall descend into the deep? (that is, to bring up Christ again from the dead) But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach, That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!

Jude 1 ; 24,25 Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy, To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.

Galatians 2:16

Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified

Matthew 5:20

For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven

Sanctification Process.

So many times Christians will say , I have to give up…I have to die…I HAVE TO BE GOOD..I MUST CRUCIFY MY FLESH. All these I’S are alot of self! If you could not save yourself what makes you think that you can sanctify yourself? What does the bible teach on sanctification?

Sanctification, is the progress towards holiness or spiritual growth. Sanctification begins at our salvation and it is fullfilled at our glorification. The bible says that we are justified or declared righteous at our salvation but we are glorified, made fully righteous or perfect when we see the Lord Jesus Christ face to face. In the meantime we are being progressively sanctified, that is, we are progressively being separated from sin unto Christ. How is this done? Jesus said…THROUGH THE WORD OF GOD BY THE POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT!!!

No where does the bible tell you to change yourself…..but the scriptures do say, prayer, meditation on the word, and the power of the Holy Spirit to perfrom Gods will. Simple equation. God, God and God! No self effort involved!

“Sanctify them in the truth: thy word is truth.” John 17:17

“Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God” Matthew 4:4

There is no sanctifying power in human ability. There is no sanctifying power in human wisdom, there is no sanctifying power in human experience it is only through the Scriptures by the power of the Holy Spirit. Only God’s truth sanctifies as Christians walk in the truth of God’s word that they are changed from one degree of God’s glory into another.

“They word have I hid in my heart that I might not sin against thee”, says David in the psalms.

The Holy Spirit uses the Word of God to do His work within the born again Christian.

“Now are you clean through the word which I have spoken unto you” John 15:3.

‘But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.” II Corinthians 3:18

Friends, read the scriptures, meditate on the scriptures and pray the scriptures for that is the only way to become Christ like in character. All self effort will ony lead to failure…again and again!

Psalm 1

Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.

But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.

And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.

The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away.

Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.

For the LORD knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish

“Now are you clean through the word which I have spoken unto you” John 15:3.
