A True Christian Cannot Backside

grace5d9d4f3e-5d7d-4a13-8ec0-dff374f50a98-large

The “carnal Christian” doctrine is a false doctrine. The word for carnal in the Greek is sarkikos and this means having the depraved fleshy unregenerate worldly sin fallen nature.

The scriptures say that WE ARE NOT IN THE FLESH  BUT IN THE SPIRIT IF SO BE THAT THE SPIRIT OF GOD DWELLS IN YOU. Romans 8:9

You are either saved or you are not. John says that if we live in sin then we do not have God’s Spirit. Those who live like the devil belong to the devil. A true Christian hates sin and is constantly yielding to the Holy Spirit to transform him/her day by day into the image of Jesus Christ.

The word “back slider” is not in the New Testament at all! Backslider was a word for Israel who could NOT keep the law and fell away from God. Israel was not born again! True Christians are born again.

“The backslidden in heart is filled with his own ways. Proverbs 14:14

This is a hearer of the word but not a doer!   The natural heart condition of the unregenerate is one of turning aside from God, backslid from its maker.  Like apostate Israel, it is in need of divine intervention in order to be saved Ps. 80: 14-21

“‘If you return, O Israel’, says the Lord, ‘Return to Me; and if you will put away your abominations out of My sight, you shall not be moved’…For thus says the Lord to the men of Judah and Jerusalem: ‘Break up your fallow ground, and do not sow among thorns. Circumcise yourselves to the Lord, and take away the foreskins of your hearts, you men of Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem, lest My fury come forth like fire, and burn so that no one can quench it, because of the evil of your doings”  Jeremiah 4:1-4

The uncircumcised in heart is the unregenerate heart.

. “…they are not all Israel who are Israel” Romans 2:9

“But he is a Jew who is one inwardly, and circumcision is that of the heart, in the Spirit.” Romans 9:6

The unfaithful servants and 5 virgins were not true believers. The 5 virgins had lamps, they had the word of God, they heard the good news but they had no oil. They did not have the Holy Spirit and one must have the Holy Spirit to be saved. These 5 were a part of the apostate church. Those who claimed to be saved but are not . These have the lamp, the letter of the word, but not the Holy Spirit in them

Little children, let no one deceive you. Whoever practices righteousness is righteous, as he is righteous. Whoever makes a practice of sinning is of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil. No one born of God makes a practice of sinning, for God’s seed abides in him, and he cannot keep on sinning because he has been born of God. By this it is evident who are the children of God, and who are the children of the devil: whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor is the one who does not love his brother” 1 John 37: 7-10

“They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us they would have continued with us; but they went out that they might be made manifest, that none of them were of us” 1 John 2:19

A true Christian is not like the false disciples who left Jesus because they did not believe he was who he said he was, “…went back and walked with Him no more”

The true Christian says, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. Also we have come to believe and know that you are the Christ, the Son of the living God”  John 6:66

To Partake of the Holy Spirit or be Regenerated by the Holy Spirit ?

grace1234690_10151785377154641_1429531497_n

For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost,

If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.

For the earth which drinketh in the rain that cometh oft upon it, and bringeth forth herbs meet for them by whom it is dressed, receiveth blessing from God:

But that which beareth thorns and briers is rejected, and is nigh unto cursing; whose end is to be burned.

But, beloved, we are persuaded better things of you, and things THAT ACCOMPANY SALVATION, though we thus speak.

Go on to verse 17 of this chapter…

Wherein God, willing more abundantly to shew unto the heirs of promise the immutability of his counsel, confirmed it by an oath: That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us: Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast, and which entereth into that within the veil; Whither the forerunner is for us entered, even Jesus, made an high priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.

The word “partake” in this verse is to receive of the Holy Spirit such as a miracle, healing, an answer to prayer. (Notice how this verse does not say regenerated by the Holy Spirit.)

The Greek word in this verse for “Partake” metochos which means to share in benefits of an association with but not necessarily to be born of the Holy Spirit. While all Christians do partake of the Holy Spirit not all who partake of the Holy Spirit are Christians. The Greek word translated “partakers” can mean from a deep and abiding commitment to a loose knowledge of someone or something.

Since it is not made perfectly clear to us we must therefore rely on other scriptures.  We must always compare scriptures with scriptures in rightly dividing the truth. Notice how these in this scripture bare thorns and briers.

Jesus said that a corrupt tree bares corrupt fruit but a good tree CANNOT bring forth bad fruit.  A tree bears fruit of its own kind.  “…a good tree does not bear bad fruit, nor does a bad tree bear good fruit. For every tree is known by its own fruit. For men do not gather figs from thorns, nor do they gather grapes from a bramble bush. A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth evil. For out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.” Luke 6:43-45

If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” John 8:31-32

“What fruit did you have then in the things of which you are now ashamed? For the end of those things is death.  But now having been set free from sin, and having become slaves of God, you have your fruit to holiness, and the end, everlasting life. For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 6:21-23

The Bible tells us that we are new creatures in Jesus Christ and are predestined to be conformed to the image of Jesus Christ.

Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. 2 Corinthians 5:17

“For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.” Romans 8:29

The fruit of the Spirit in a Christian’s life is proof of having received Jesus Christ and being born again.

You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles? Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Therefore by their fruits you will know them.”  Matthew 7:16-20

“Therefore I say to you, the kingdom of God will be taken from you and given to a nation bearing the fruits of it. And whoever falls on this stone will be broken; but on whomever it falls, it will grind him to powder.” Matthew 21:43-44

“Brood of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the wrath to come? Therefore bear fruits worthy of repentance…” Luke 3:7-8

“For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end. “Hebrews 3:14

Who is he that turns back to perdition and has no confidence in the salvation of Jesus Christ? Those who partook of the things of God but did not become born again and had no fellowship with the Holy Spirit, they fell away because there was no truth in them, for as scriptures declare, “Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice.”  John 18:37

Can a true Christian loose salvation? NO! Those who turn back to perdition bearing bad fruit are hearers. When persecution or tribulation comes because of the word  of God’s sake  these hearers fall back because they tasted of the Holy Spirit’s good things to come but were never born again of the Holy Spirit. They did not receive the divine nature of God and were not made heirs of Jesus Christ’s righteousness.

Can a True Christian Fall Away from God?

973affab-c73b-4b30-bfe2-8be2d285a238-large

Can a true Christian fall away? No! Can an apostate fall away? Yes! Why? They were never saved in the first place! Let us examine this scripture.

For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted the heavenly gift, and have become partakers of the Holy Spirit, and have tasted the good word of God and the powers of the age to come, if they fall away, to renew them again to repentance, since they crucify again for themselves the Son of God, and put Him to an open shame.” Hebrew 6:4 ”

First of all this scriptures is talking about those who have heard the gospel , experienced the power of God and TASTED…note the word…TASTED the word of God. …but did not become born again.

This perfectly fits Simon the sorcerer who saw the power of God and even believed in Jesus but guesses what? He was not saved!!

A sinner’s prayer won’t save you! Going to church and hearing the word of God spoken won’t save you. Watching healing programs on TV won’t save you!!!

You must be born again of the Holy Spirit and be given a new nature….God’s nature!!!

For more info on Simon and his false conversion read my blog.https://thegospelofgraceministries.wordpress.com/2013/05/24/believe-with-the-heart/

The scripture is not talking about Christians. It says “those” who have …..”Been enlightened”…..Jesus said many who hear the word receive it but do not bear fruit…why? The devil snatches it away…..and yet God says no one can snatch his sheep from his hand. Obviously, these hear but have no understanding and are not saved. The ones, who go back having loved this present world like Demas, were not saved as John says those who belong to God do not love the world. “If any man love the world then God’s love does not live in him.”

For more info on saving faith read my blog.https://thegospelofgraceministries.wordpress.com/2014/05/27/saving-faith-3/

The Bible says that those who live in sin are of the devil and belong to the devil. Those who are of God have God’s nature and walk in his Spirit. Now if you are really born of God and have his nature you will live a life that pleases God.

John says that if one says they belong to God and live in sin …THEY ARE LIARS!!! Those of God confess their sin and walk in the light.

This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us. 1 John 1:6-10

As for the phrase “tasting” in this scripture, the Bible says that Jesus tasted death. He tasted it but death did not consume him. Death was conquered. It is the same with sin. It has been conquered too. Jesus came to deliver from the power of the devil and the power of sin. If one has not the power to defeat sin in their life then they have no Jesus in their life. For it is the power of God that defeats sin. 🙂

A true Christian will “walk in newness of life” (Romans 6:4), and are “alive to God” (Romans 6:11)

It is interesting to note that while some Christians believe that they need faith in Jesus Christ to save him some have no faith in Jesus Christ to keep them saved.

“Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy, To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.”Jude 1:24,25

John and Jesus specifically said that those who live like the devil belong to the devil. Bottom line. Now while a Christian may sin he does not keep on sinning! He is constantly being conformed into the image of Jesus Christ.

Did you know that Jesus did not say to the prostitute, the homosexual, the thief, that they would have a greater damnation? Who did he say this to? The Religious leaders of his day! Why? Because they preferred to be justified by the law of Moses rather than the sacrifice of Jesus Christ.

If you add your works to save you or keep you saved then you are not saved. You have no grace in your life. While you may think that you are saved (so do all the cults) and name the name of Jesus ect, You are lost. Why? Because you trod on the blood of Jesus and do not think that it is worthy to save you and nor do you think that the blood of Jesus has power to save from sin and keep you saved from sin.

“Therefore, if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” 2 Corinthians 5:17

CREATED in Christ Jesus unto Good Works,

graceer

Grace + Faith = salvation = justification = sanctification = God works.
For by grace are ye saved through faith and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God,Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, CREATED in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them. Ephesians 2:8-10

Whenever I hear this phrase (cheap grace) being used by works orientated Christians, I immediately know they have no real understanding of the word GRACE. Here is a really good explanation.

We have to be on our guard against the supposition that grace is an abstract quality; it is an active personal principle, showing itself in our dealings with those by whom we are surrounded. … In the great proportion of passages in which the word grace is found in the New Testament, it signifies the unmerited operation of God in the heart of man, effected through the agency of the Holy Spirit. We have gradually come to speak of grace as an inherent quality in man, just as we talk of gifts; whereas it is in reality the communication of Divine goodness by the inworking of the Spirit, and through the medium of Him who is ‘full of grace and truth.’” — Robert Girdlestone, Synonyms of the Old Testament (London: Longmans, Green and Co., 1871), p. 179.

In effect what people are really saying by this expression(cheap grace) is that the Grace of God is not complete in itself to save and keep us from sin so what I must do is I got to work to achieve godliness. How absolutely offensive that is to the redemptive work of Jesus Christ! Let me show you why!

First of all let us define the word cheap to bring my argument into proper perspective

cheap
1. a. Relatively low in cost; inexpensive or comparatively inexpensive.
b. Charging low prices, a cheap restaurant.
2. a. Obtainable at a low rate of interest. Used especially of money.
b. Devalued, as in buying power: cheap dollars.
3. Achieved with little effort a cheap victory cheap laughs.
4. Of or considered of small value in wartime, when life was cheap.
5. Of poor quality, inferior a cheap toy.
6. Worthy of no respect vulgar or contemptible a cheap gangster
7. Stingy; miserly

The grace of God was given at a great price and is not cheap! It cost him everything! Why do we even think for one moment that we could earn so great salvation in our own efforts or need to offer up our works to keep so great salvation either!

All our works, according to scripture, are as filthy rags in his sight no matter how well meaning. Let us examine this text.
Luke 18:8-14

I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth? And he spake this parable unto certain which trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised othersTwo men went up into the temple to pray, the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican.

The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican. I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess.

And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner. I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted

Do you see what attitude is received by the Lord?…The one who puts no confidence in his flesh….the one who admits failure…..the one who trusts in Christ’s righteousness alone!

Is grace cheap?….No, brethren it cost Jesus Christ everything and it is a free gift which produces faith, justifies, sanctifies and keeps the Christian until that day when we stand before him dressed in his wonderful robe of Righteousness and not our own filthy rags. !!

The Bible says that a true born again Christian has been created by God to perform good works. When we fail in our self efforts (and God lets us do that at times), it is to make us more dependent on him. Flesh always wants to be in control and that will be until we get glorified bodies. No one will ever be perfect or able to keep all the law in its entirety. The Bible says that God has created us to good works, in other words good works are a natural inclination created in the heart of the born again person, however, good works in and of themselves do not save. It is the blood covenant that saves, justifies and sanctifies.

Each of us has been created for a specific purpose and God will work out our salvation in us according to his good pleasure as scriptures affirm. Man, by his fall into a state of sin, lost all ability to perform any spiritual good so as a natural man, being in enmity from God’s goodness, and dead in sin, is not able, by his own strength, to convert himself. Fallen man is a total sinner without any good, but when man is born again by the Holy Spirit he then is able to perform that which is good and well pleasing to God because he has been given a new nature, God’s nature. If any man does not have God’s Spirit then he cannot do what is well pleasing to God because he has a sin nature.

So one then is either saved or he is not. There is no in between. A born again man who has God living in him has been imputed (accredited with) Christ’s righteousness not his own BUT this born again man will live a life that pleases God because he was created by the Holy Spirit to do just that!

For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them. Ephesians 2:10

God Uses the Foolishness of Preaching

biblebfa388f5-ead6-4c27-92dd-6aa129e12feb-large
The Bible says that whosoever will call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved, but how shall they hear about the gospel without a preacher? The Bible also tells us that the Lord uses the foolishness of preaching to save those who believe. That is those who have been given ears to hear what the Spirit of God is saying.

Unless the Father draws a person to him by his Holy Spirit, humans in the sin nature will not have God in their thoughts. The nature of man apart from God is dead in trespasses and sins. A dead person cannot give himself life. The Adamic nature is SPIRITUALLY DEAD TO GOD and needs to be made alive to him.

Humans under sin by nature are also children of wrath by nature according to the Bible and must be born again by the Holy Spirit and given a new nature. The nature of God must be deposited in the human Spirit. Then they can willingly choose to obey God because they have come to their senses or have been given spiritual insight. In the same way that the demon possessed man with a legion of devils could choose Jesus after he was delivered from the power of Satan.

The human heart is the most deceitful of all things, and desperately wicked. Who really knows how bad it is? But I, the Lord, search all hearts and examine secret motives. I give all people their due rewards, according to what their actions desert.” Jeremiah 17 :9-10

Was then that which is good made death unto me? God forbid. But sin, that it might appear sin, working death in me by that which is good; that SIN BY THE COMMANDMENT MIGHT BECOME EXCEEDINGLY SINFUL.” Romans 7:13,

Romans 8:7-8: “For the mind that is set on the flesh is HOSTILE [echthra-enmity, hatred] to God, for it does not submit to God’s law; indeed, it cannot. Those who are in the flesh cannot please God.”

Genesis 6:5: “The LORD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intention of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.”

Romans 3:10-11: “None is righteous, no, not one; no one understands; no one seeks for God.”

1 Corinthians 2:14: “The natural person does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are folly to him, and he is not able to understand them because they are spiritually discerned.”

Ephesians 2:1-3: “And you were dead in the trespasses and sins in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience – among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body and the mind, and were BY NATURE [physis-birth, physical origin, the force, laws, order of nature] children of wrath, like the rest of mankind.”

John 8:34: “Jesus answered them, ‘Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who commits sin is a slave to sin.’”

John 6:44: “[Jesus said,] ‘No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him. And I will raise him up on the last day.’”

Mark 7:21-23: “For from within, out of the heart of man, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, coveting, wickedness, deceit, sensuality, envy, slander, pride, foolishness. All these evil things come from within, and they defile a person.”

John 3:19: “And this is the judgment: the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their deeds were evil.”

Psalms 51:5: “Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, and in sin did my mother conceive me.”

Psalms 58:3: “The wicked are estranged from the womb; they go astray from birth, speaking lies.”

Job 15:14: What is man, that he can be pure? Or he who is born of a woman, that he can be righteous?

Jeremiah 13:23:”Can the Ethiopian change his skin or the leopard its spots? Neither can you do good who are accustomed to doing evil

John 6:64-65: “[Jesus said,] ‘But there are some of you who do not believe.’ (For Jesus knew from the beginning who those were who did not believe, and who it was who would betray him.) And he said, ‘This is why I told you that no one can come to me unless it is granted him by the Father.’”

All people who are not born of God are under the power of the darkness of this world according to the Bible. They must be translated out of that darkness into the Kingdom of God. This is a divine sovereign act of God that cannot be done by human effort.

The Bible says that the unregenerate are slaves to sin, they cannot be free from their sin unless the Son sets them free. The people of the world sin because they are sinners.  However, those born of God are given a new nature. The born of God nature. True Christians can choose to do good because their hearts have been made new. Christians are led by God, filled with his Spirit, motivated by him and walk in his ways.

“And when the Gentiles heard this, they were glad, and glorified the word of the Lord: and as many as were ordained to eternal life believed.” Acts 13:48

John 1: 12, 13– But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name. Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God

John 3:3 – Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

1 Peter 1:23 – Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.

Romans 6:4 – Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

2 Corinthians 5:17 – Therefore if any man [be] in Christ, [he is] a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

Can a Christian still sin? Yes, they can because of still residing in the body that is not redeemed. Our Spirits are born again but the mind is renewed over time as we read God’s word that has the power to transform us into the image of Jesus Christ, line upon line and precept upon precept. Here a little there a little, from one degree of God’s glory into another. It is process and will continue until eternity. No Christian will ever in this life time become perfect. Only God is perfect.

The body of the Christian is DEAD BECAUSE OF SIN the Bible says. The body will be cast off in eternity or at the Rapture and we will be given glorified bodies that do not sin.

The born again Christian can sin but he will not like it. His heart which grieves God’s heart will seek after the Lord and God will help him. He will cleanse and restore and help his child grow up as a mature believer. A true Christian does not live a lifestyle of sin. A true Christian is sealed by the Holy Spirit of promise and will be kept by the power of God unto salvation.  In eternity he will be completely restored having new bodies that are like Jesus’ new body. Once born again one cannot be unborn again. He will never be lost as God will keep him. He who has promised is faithful to keep his promise.

Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. 1 John 3:9

But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.” II Corinthians 3:18

For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.” Hebrews 10:14

“Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt. But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.” Romans 4:4,5

Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy, To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.

The preaching of the word will either bring faith for salvation or judgment. Either way, the foolishness of preaching is God’s way to bring people to the knowledge of the truth.

How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things! Romans 10:14,5

But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report? So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. Romans 10:16

Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place. For we are unto God a sweet savour of Christ, in them that are saved, and in them that perish: To the one we are the savour of death unto death; and to the other the savour of life unto life. And who is sufficient for these things? For we are not as many, which corrupt the word of God: but as of sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God speak we in Christ. 2 Corinthians 2:14-17

It is my hope that the Wide Road story will minister to both the believer and the unbeliever with the message of the gospel. Most people like stories and Jesus taught the word of God to the multitudes many times using stories that were allegorical in nature. I have also used the art of storytelling in order to minister the gospel.

Through this story I would like for young Christians to get a good understanding about spiritual concepts such as sin, faith, salvation, righteousness, sanctification and for more mature believers to use this story as an evangelism tool in reaching their friends and family with the gospel message.

In the sequel to this story I desire to minister in God’s grace to the sheep in hopes of exhorting them in their walk of faith by giving them a character to relate to who like themselves have many trials, tribulations, joys and victories in his walk down the “Narrow Road”.

Blessings in Jesus , Kim
