Pleading the Blood of Jesus

gracer

One of the weapons of our warfare is to remind the devils of the blood covenant paid for us by Jesus Christ.  Some people call this “pleading” the blood of Jesus. While there is no direct reference to this term there is scriptural reference to the idea of reminding the enemy of our position in Jesus Christ.

This form of spiritual warfare is attacked by some Christians and the devil really likes it! This is because the devil hates to be reminded that he is a defeated foe. While our position in the new covenant is as blood bought new creations, the devil will not acknowledge this. Let me explain.

Jesus is our mediator, or lawyer. One who advocates for another. In a court of law the rule of law must be put forth to the judge to define the offense, this is done by the prosecution or the accuser of the brethren. Then the advocate brings the defense. The defense is, this, the blood of Jesus cleanses us from all unrighteousness.

Some Christians fail to see that the accuser still stands before the court of God to accuse and Jesus stands there in mediation.  This is his job today! At the right hand of God Jesus makes our defense.  When scriptures say,”It is finished” it means that it is finished but that does not mean there is no opposition to this. For example, a law set in place in our judicial system may not be acknowledged by a criminal so it must be enforced and that is why we have police and lawyers. It is the same way in God’s kingdom and just so you know, our common law system is built on the principals of Mosaic Law.

Why do you think that Christians need to have spiritual weapons and fight spiritual warfare? Those who ignore these Biblical concepts may find that their lives are not going to be protected. God himself said, “MY PEOPLE perish for lack of knowledge.”

Ignorance of the devil’s devises is dangerous to your welfare on this earth. God has given us spiritual principles in this word and he expects us to use them.  I am someone who believes in the sovereignty of God but I also know that God’s sovereignty is applied as he wills by the means he wills.

For example, if God wants someone saved, he will raise up prayer and the preaching of the word to get that person saved.  If you don’t believe that then tell me why Jesus needed a fish and a loaf to multiply to feed the people and why he needed water to turn to wine and why he needed prophetic acts by the prophets? No, not because he is kooky but because the principles of the kingdom have spiritual protocol or spiritual laws that must be applied.

Just as there are natural laws that govern the universe there are spiritual laws that govern the kingdom of God.  For example, Jesus said in the Bible, give and it will be given to you, seek and you will find, ask and you will be given, ect. These are laws that govern the kingdom of God. We are not saved by any laws but spiritual principals are spiritual laws like the law of gravity is a natural law. Now to come to my point, the law of applying the blood covenant to a given situation.

We know that the blood of Jesus cleanses from sin. Not just our sin yesterday but any sin tomorrow.  The devil will use any un-confessed sin to destroy you.  We need to acknowledge our sin and confess it to God and ask for his help in delivering us from that sin.

“For this is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.” Matthew 26:28

“In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace.” Ephesians 1:7

“But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been made near by the blood of Christ.” Ephesians 2:13

“For the life of the flesh is in the blood … for it is the blood that makes atonement for the soul.” Leviticus 17:11

The Bible tells us that the devil accuses the Christian night and day before God and he has a case if the sin is un-confessed. Satan can cause a lot of havoc in the Christian’s life who has un-confessed sin. However, when the sin is confessed and brought to the light and forsaken, which means that you forsake the love of your sin and embrace the Holy Spirit’s power to defeat that sin by yielding or surrendering to God taking control of it, you can be set free.

Now if you try to give up your sin by your will power you will eventually fall back into it. Asking the Holy Spirit to change your heart and make it line up with his will is the principle of the kingdom of God and not old law keeping which has no power to defeat sin.

Let me show you what the Bible says about the power of the blood of Jesus as a weapon of our warfare.

“But if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanseth us from all sin.” 1 John 1:7

“… that through death He might destroy him who had the power of death, that is, the devil, and release those who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.” Hebrews 2:14

“He has delivered us from the power of darkness and translated us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.” Colossians 1:13

“Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it.” Colossians 2:15

“For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil.” (1 John 3:8)

“And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.” Revelation 12:11

Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.” Luke 10:19

“How much more shall the blood of Christ…purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?” Hebrews 9:14

Pleading is a legal term of advocacy and it means a law of presenting a case in court as by a lawyer on behalf of his client. In other words it is a legal defense. So when we plead the blood of Jesus, we are putting forth our advocate’s defense to the prosecution and when we do this we are justified in our situation.

While Jesus paid the price for sin ONCE for all, we must continually plead our defense when we fall into sin and we do this all the time because we are not yet made perfect. This makes the devil a defeated foe in our lives because we have God’s defense against sin and that is the blood of Jesus!

Father in Jesus name I plead the blood of Jesus on my life because Jesus continually lives to make intercession for me. I acknowledge that I am not perfect and I ask for you to help me in my weaknesses by the power of your Holy Spirit, in the name of my advocate and Savior Jesus Christ, Amen.

Walk in the Holy Spirit.

walk559194_10151127832625867_991875592_n

The Mosaic Law could not save anyone from the sin nature. Jesus Christ made ATONEMENT (the death of Christ brings us back to God) for those who believe through PROPITIATION (appeasing the wrath of God) bringing REGENERATION (spiritually reborn) AND JUSTIFICATION (To make right) through IMPUTATION (accredit Christ’s righteousness to) and bringing RECONCILIATION (to restore).

He did this by condemning sin in the flesh so that the “righteousness of the law” might be fulfilled in the REDEEMED (delivered from sin)who no longer walk after the sinful nature (flesh) because they have been given a new nature (born again spirit) which has the divine nature of the Holy Spirit indwelling them. If any one does not have the Holy Spirit dwelling in them they DO NOT KNOW GOD according to the bible.

For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, So God sent his Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin and condemned sin in the flesh!” Rom. 8:3

The Bible says that the righteousness of the law is fulfilled in the born again Christian who is filled with God’s Spirit. “That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.” Romans 8:4
Those who live in the Spirit (born of God) are led by the Spirit of God being the sons of God and thus being so they are able to walk in the Spirit which means to keep in step with him in his leadings, promptings, urgings, movings, motivations, inspirations and revelations.  “But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.” Gal. 5:18
When we were lost in sin and dead to God (old man) we lived to please ourselves and by breaking God’s law we were condemned by that law. But now as new creatures in Christ WE ARE DELIVERED FROM THE LAW so that now we can serve God in the Spirit under the new law of life and liberty in Christ Jesus!
For when we were in the flesh, the motions of sins, which were by the law, did work in our members to bring forth fruit unto death. But now we are DELIVERED FROM THE LAW, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter.” Romans 7:5,6
True Christians born of God’s Spirit are saved from sin by the FREE GIFT OF RIGHTEOUSNESS and are continually being saved from the effects of the sinful nature in our soul realm. Being made free from sin we have now become the servants of God and have the fruit of the Spirit in our lives being produced on a daily basis which produces in our lives, holy living.
But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.” Romans 6:22

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: AGAINST SUCH THERE IS NO LAW. And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.” Galatians 5:22,23

If a person claims to know God and lives in habitual sin and hates other Christians the Bible says that he is a liar. A true Christians hates his sin and is always yielding to the Holy Spirit to be set free and transformed daily by the word of God which lives and abides forever!

If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen? 1 John 4:20

My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.

And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him. He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.

Brethren, I write no new commandment unto you, but an old commandment which ye had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word which ye have heard from the beginning. Again, a new commandment I write unto you, which thing is true in him and in you: because the darkness is past, and the true light now shineth. He that saith he is in the light, and hateth his brother, is in darkness even until now. He that loveth his brother abideth in the light, and there is none occasion of stumbling in him.But he that hateth his brother is in darkness, and walketh in darkness, and knoweth not whither he goeth, because that darkness hath blinded his eyes.

I write unto you, little children, because your sins are forgiven you for his name’s sake. I write unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I write unto you, young men, because ye have overcome the wicked one. I write unto you, little children, because ye have known the Father. I have written unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I have written unto you, young men, because ye are strong, and the word of God abideth in you, and ye have overcome the wicked one.

Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever. 1 John 2:1-17

Walk in the Holy Spirit brethren!

Bless and Curse Not !

graceimages

The Bible tells us to bless others but not to curse them. To bless (eulogeō -) means to speak well of, to invoke a benediction on, to prosper and to curse (kataraomai ) means to doom, invoke or to call for with earnest desire evil upon.
In other words we are to speak good things about others and not evil things.

Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. Romans 12:14

Let’s take a look at the English word for Bless. Dictionary: pronounce words in a religious rite, to confer or invoke divine favor upon; ask God to look favorably on.

Let’s take a look at the English word for curse. Dictionary: a solemn utterance intended to invoke a supernatural power to inflict harm or punishment on someone or something. Also, an offensive word or phrase used to express anger or annoyance.

In the Hebrew the word bless is used in the connotation: to cause to prosper and to have God’s favour, to speak well of.

We know from the Bible that the wicked are cursed but the saved are blessed so we can concur from this that God expects us to pray for the salvation of those who are against us. Then they can be blessed indeed!

The curse of the LORD is in the house of the wicked: but he blesseth the habitation of the just. Proverbs 3:33

A controversial question is: Can a Christian be cursed? My opinion is both yes and no. Let me explain, when the enemy’s vessels curse through direct proclamations or evil speaking over a Christian that curse will alight BUT with prayer and spiritual alertness they cannot stay alighted.

Remember that God himself says that HIS PEOPLE perish for lack of knowledge. (Hosea 4:6)

He also says that a curse without a cause will not alight. Even Christians can do bad things causing themselves to have a curse over their lives. However as the Holy Spirit in prayer points those out we can repent and pray for curses to be broken in JESUS NAME.

Jesus Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law BUT if one walks in ignorance of this fact or have sin in which will cause a curse to alight then curses may be in effect.

God provided for us the things we need for spiritual warfare but until we put those things into practice they will hinder our walk with God. You can do a word search on curses and find out all the sins that can bring a curse in scriptures. If we are in the light we can walk in the light but ignorance will bring destruction. God wants to train our hands for war. This means that we must grow up in him and walk in what he reveals to us individually as truth.

When we see a brother or sister in sin or needing help in an area, we are to pray for them. NOT PRONOUNCE JUDGEMENT. If we judge them we will find that judgment will come back on us for our sin and we will be in big trouble, so it is best to just pray.

Sometimes we need to correct as the Lord leads us but not always. We need to be sensitive to how God is leading us in each situation.

Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, you who are spiritual, restore such a one in the spirit of meekness; considering yourself, lest you also be tempted.” Galatians 6:1

A “word curse” or evil speaking about others can be harmful and destructive. In the same way that witches curse to invoke demonic assignment on a person so can speaking evil about someone bring an evil assignment to bring to pass the evil that was spoken. It works in the exact same way.

A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of. Matthew 12:35

Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult. On the contrary, repay evil with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing. 1Peter 3:9

There are different kinds of curses. The bible tells us about Biblical curses for sin, witchcraft curses, and curses by evil speaking about someone. You can even curse yourself by speaking evil things about your life. Now we do not need to be in bondage over all our words but when the Holy Spirit gives us that signal then best repent of the words and go to prayer.

Death and life are in the power of the tongue. Proverbs 18:21  The words of the reckless pierce like swords, but the tongue of the wise brings healing. Proverbs 12:18  With it we bless our God and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in the similitude of God. Out of the same mouth proceed blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be so James 3:9-10

Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you. Matthew 5: 44-48

The grace of the Lord Jesus be with God’s people. Amen.

Salvation is of the Lord!

 gracesbggtfija

Salvation is of the Lord. That means it originates from God, is executed by God and determined by God. This Biblical teaching is very hard for some to except because they much prefer to hear that they had played some part in the salvation of their soul, but from a scriptural perspective, this simply is not true.

I am the Lord, and there is no other; Besides Me there is no God. I will gird you, though you have not known Me; that men may know from the rising to the setting of the sun That there is no one besides Me. I am the Lord, and there is no other, The One forming light and creating darkness, Causing well-being and creating calamity; I am the Lord who does all these. Isaiah 45:5-7

Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure:” Isaiah 46:10

The will to come to Jesus Christ is the outcome of God’s unconditional, free and sovereign election. The Bible tells us that, “Salvation is not of him that willith , nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy.” Romans 9:16

According to God’s sovereign good pleasure, God is merciful to whom He will be merciful, and whom He will He hardeneth, (allows the heart to stay hard to the gospel.)

Man does not cooperate with God in his own salvation. God alone determines who shall be saved, and God alone accomplishes the work of salvation.

And he said, Therefore said I unto you, that no man can come unto me, except it were given unto him of my Father. John 6:65

It does not, therefore, depend on human desire or effort, but on God’s mercy. NIV

So then it depends not on human will or exertion, but on God, who has mercy. ESV

Therefore, God’s choice does not depend on a person’s will or effort, but on God himself, who shows mercy. ISV

Some Christians reject this part of the Bible but the NT does not in any way say one can choose their salvation. God’s sovereignty is not limited by the will of man. In other words the will of man does not determine the salvation of one’s soul.  Paul is a classic example of this as is all the Old Testament prophets. They all were chose by God.

But when he who had set me apart before I was born, and who called me by his grace. Galatians 1:5

As I was on my way and drew near to Damascus, about noon a great light from heaven suddenly shone around me. And I fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to me, “Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me? Acts 22:6, 7

The Disciples were chosen, handpicked by Jesus.

“Ye [the disciples] have not chosen Me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, John 15:16

Jesus said, “Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men. Mathew 4:19

The word of the Lord came to me, saying, Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations. Jeremiah 1:4, 5

Israel was elected to be a chose people unto the Lord but did you know that the Bible also says that God has chosen for himself a people from among the Gentiles as well?

But now listen, Jacob, my servant, Israel, whom I have chosen. This is what the Lord says he who made you, who formed you in the womb, and who will help you:Do not be afraid, Jacob, my servant, Jeshurun, whom I have chosen. Isaiah 44:1-4

And when the Gentiles heard this, they were glad, and glorified the word of the Lord; and as many as were ordained (elected, chosen) to eternal life believed. Acts 13:48

Simeon hath declared how God at the first did visit the Gentiles, to take out of them a people for his name. Acts 15:14

It is only through the sovereign, grace of God in Jesus Christ that draws the sinner to himself.

At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes. Even so, Father: for so it seemed good in thy sight. Matthew 11: 25,26

As it is written, Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated. What shall we say then? Is there unrighteousness with God? God forbid. For he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion. So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy. For the Scripture saith unto Pharaoh, Even for this same purpose have I raised thee up, that I might shew my power in thee, and that my name might be declared throughout all the earth. Therefore hath he mercy on whom he will have mercy, and whom he will he hardeneth. Romans 9:13-18

The unsaved are BLINDED to the gospel and are not able to see without the power of the Holy Spirit. God is the one who gives eyes to see and ears to hear, and a heart to desire after Him.

But though he had done so many miracles before them, yet they believed not on him: that the saying of Esaias the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spake, Lord, who hath believed our report? and to whom hath the arm of the Lord been revealed? Therefore they could not believe, because that Esaias said again, He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart; that they should not see with their eyes, nor understand with their heart, and be converted, and I should heal them. John 12:37-40
So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. Romans 10:17

What then? Israel hath not obtained that which he seeketh for; but the election hath obtained it, and the rest were blinded. Romans 11:7

No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him. John 6:44

Why does God chose those he desires to be saved? The Bible specifically says…So that no flesh will ever glory in His presence!

We have nothing to boast in…no works of any kind.  Just to be blessed by God’s mercy to the undeserving sinner. That is why it is called AMAZING GRACE!

But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,  Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)  And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:  That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.  For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:  Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them. Ephesians 2:4-10
