To Partake of the Holy Spirit or be Regenerated by the Holy Spirit ?

grace1234690_10151785377154641_1429531497_n

For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost,

If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.

For the earth which drinketh in the rain that cometh oft upon it, and bringeth forth herbs meet for them by whom it is dressed, receiveth blessing from God:

But that which beareth thorns and briers is rejected, and is nigh unto cursing; whose end is to be burned.

But, beloved, we are persuaded better things of you, and things THAT ACCOMPANY SALVATION, though we thus speak.

Go on to verse 17 of this chapter…

Wherein God, willing more abundantly to shew unto the heirs of promise the immutability of his counsel, confirmed it by an oath: That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us: Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast, and which entereth into that within the veil; Whither the forerunner is for us entered, even Jesus, made an high priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.

The word “partake” in this verse is to receive of the Holy Spirit such as a miracle, healing, an answer to prayer. (Notice how this verse does not say regenerated by the Holy Spirit.)

The Greek word in this verse for “Partake” metochos which means to share in benefits of an association with but not necessarily to be born of the Holy Spirit. While all Christians do partake of the Holy Spirit not all who partake of the Holy Spirit are Christians. The Greek word translated “partakers” can mean from a deep and abiding commitment to a loose knowledge of someone or something.

Since it is not made perfectly clear to us we must therefore rely on other scriptures.  We must always compare scriptures with scriptures in rightly dividing the truth. Notice how these in this scripture bare thorns and briers.

Jesus said that a corrupt tree bares corrupt fruit but a good tree CANNOT bring forth bad fruit.  A tree bears fruit of its own kind.  “…a good tree does not bear bad fruit, nor does a bad tree bear good fruit. For every tree is known by its own fruit. For men do not gather figs from thorns, nor do they gather grapes from a bramble bush. A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth evil. For out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.” Luke 6:43-45

If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” John 8:31-32

“What fruit did you have then in the things of which you are now ashamed? For the end of those things is death.  But now having been set free from sin, and having become slaves of God, you have your fruit to holiness, and the end, everlasting life. For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 6:21-23

The Bible tells us that we are new creatures in Jesus Christ and are predestined to be conformed to the image of Jesus Christ.

Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. 2 Corinthians 5:17

“For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.” Romans 8:29

The fruit of the Spirit in a Christian’s life is proof of having received Jesus Christ and being born again.

You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles? Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Therefore by their fruits you will know them.”  Matthew 7:16-20

“Therefore I say to you, the kingdom of God will be taken from you and given to a nation bearing the fruits of it. And whoever falls on this stone will be broken; but on whomever it falls, it will grind him to powder.” Matthew 21:43-44

“Brood of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the wrath to come? Therefore bear fruits worthy of repentance…” Luke 3:7-8

“For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end. “Hebrews 3:14

Who is he that turns back to perdition and has no confidence in the salvation of Jesus Christ? Those who partook of the things of God but did not become born again and had no fellowship with the Holy Spirit, they fell away because there was no truth in them, for as scriptures declare, “Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice.”  John 18:37

Can a true Christian loose salvation? NO! Those who turn back to perdition bearing bad fruit are hearers. When persecution or tribulation comes because of the word  of God’s sake  these hearers fall back because they tasted of the Holy Spirit’s good things to come but were never born again of the Holy Spirit. They did not receive the divine nature of God and were not made heirs of Jesus Christ’s righteousness.

Salvation is of the Lord!

 gracesbggtfija

Salvation is of the Lord. That means it originates from God, is executed by God and determined by God. This Biblical teaching is very hard for some to except because they much prefer to hear that they had played some part in the salvation of their soul, but from a scriptural perspective, this simply is not true.

I am the Lord, and there is no other; Besides Me there is no God. I will gird you, though you have not known Me; that men may know from the rising to the setting of the sun That there is no one besides Me. I am the Lord, and there is no other, The One forming light and creating darkness, Causing well-being and creating calamity; I am the Lord who does all these. Isaiah 45:5-7

Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure:” Isaiah 46:10

The will to come to Jesus Christ is the outcome of God’s unconditional, free and sovereign election. The Bible tells us that, “Salvation is not of him that willith , nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy.” Romans 9:16

According to God’s sovereign good pleasure, God is merciful to whom He will be merciful, and whom He will He hardeneth, (allows the heart to stay hard to the gospel.)

Man does not cooperate with God in his own salvation. God alone determines who shall be saved, and God alone accomplishes the work of salvation.

And he said, Therefore said I unto you, that no man can come unto me, except it were given unto him of my Father. John 6:65

It does not, therefore, depend on human desire or effort, but on God’s mercy. NIV

So then it depends not on human will or exertion, but on God, who has mercy. ESV

Therefore, God’s choice does not depend on a person’s will or effort, but on God himself, who shows mercy. ISV

Some Christians reject this part of the Bible but the NT does not in any way say one can choose their salvation. God’s sovereignty is not limited by the will of man. In other words the will of man does not determine the salvation of one’s soul.  Paul is a classic example of this as is all the Old Testament prophets. They all were chose by God.

But when he who had set me apart before I was born, and who called me by his grace. Galatians 1:5

As I was on my way and drew near to Damascus, about noon a great light from heaven suddenly shone around me. And I fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to me, “Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me? Acts 22:6, 7

The Disciples were chosen, handpicked by Jesus.

“Ye [the disciples] have not chosen Me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, John 15:16

Jesus said, “Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men. Mathew 4:19

The word of the Lord came to me, saying, Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations. Jeremiah 1:4, 5

Israel was elected to be a chose people unto the Lord but did you know that the Bible also says that God has chosen for himself a people from among the Gentiles as well?

But now listen, Jacob, my servant, Israel, whom I have chosen. This is what the Lord says he who made you, who formed you in the womb, and who will help you:Do not be afraid, Jacob, my servant, Jeshurun, whom I have chosen. Isaiah 44:1-4

And when the Gentiles heard this, they were glad, and glorified the word of the Lord; and as many as were ordained (elected, chosen) to eternal life believed. Acts 13:48

Simeon hath declared how God at the first did visit the Gentiles, to take out of them a people for his name. Acts 15:14

It is only through the sovereign, grace of God in Jesus Christ that draws the sinner to himself.

At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes. Even so, Father: for so it seemed good in thy sight. Matthew 11: 25,26

As it is written, Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated. What shall we say then? Is there unrighteousness with God? God forbid. For he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion. So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy. For the Scripture saith unto Pharaoh, Even for this same purpose have I raised thee up, that I might shew my power in thee, and that my name might be declared throughout all the earth. Therefore hath he mercy on whom he will have mercy, and whom he will he hardeneth. Romans 9:13-18

The unsaved are BLINDED to the gospel and are not able to see without the power of the Holy Spirit. God is the one who gives eyes to see and ears to hear, and a heart to desire after Him.

But though he had done so many miracles before them, yet they believed not on him: that the saying of Esaias the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spake, Lord, who hath believed our report? and to whom hath the arm of the Lord been revealed? Therefore they could not believe, because that Esaias said again, He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart; that they should not see with their eyes, nor understand with their heart, and be converted, and I should heal them. John 12:37-40
So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. Romans 10:17

What then? Israel hath not obtained that which he seeketh for; but the election hath obtained it, and the rest were blinded. Romans 11:7

No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him. John 6:44

Why does God chose those he desires to be saved? The Bible specifically says…So that no flesh will ever glory in His presence!

We have nothing to boast in…no works of any kind.  Just to be blessed by God’s mercy to the undeserving sinner. That is why it is called AMAZING GRACE!

But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,  Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)  And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:  That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.  For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:  Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them. Ephesians 2:4-10

Christian Humanism

Chosen-2

When the gospel is mixed with humanistic principles it then becomes “another gospel”. When human beings are elevated to a status of “little gods” or elevate humanity to a position of greatness, or even in serving humans in priority over service to God, man has created an idolatrous religion.

Christian humanism came forth from the Renaissance and Enlightenment era and was embraced by those educated in humanistic principles. Christian humanism is a religious philosophy, but it is not Biblical. Christian humanism embraces the self, the free will, freedom of the individual and exalts these principles over the sovereignty of God.

This false religion is embraced by some denominations and Christian groups today. It espouses a false free will doctrine in which man is able of his own reconnaissance to embrace the gospel of Jesus Christ and rejects the scriptures which say that the unbeliever’s mind is blinded to the gospel message. Not only is the mind of men blinded to the gospel but the heart being desperately wicked cannot choose what is good because no good thing dwells in the unregenerate heart.

Just as Satan wanted to be God and usurped authority over God’s sovereignty over him, so do the Christian humanists reject God’s control over them. The will to do and perform is God given and does not in any way originate from man, yet the Christian humanist insists he can choose his own way.

Scriptures declare that without Jesus we can do nothing. In other words, even our bad choices are because God allows them. Everything you do is because God allows it. Why? Let’s take a look at what the bible says,

The Lord has established His throne in the heavens; and His sovereignty rules over all. Ps. 103:19

And all the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing: and HE DOETH ACCORDING TO HIS WILL in the army of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth: and none can stay his hand, or say unto him, What doest thou? Daniel 4:35

And I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will show compassion on whom I will show compassion. Ex. 33:19

Moreover the Lord your God will circumcise your heart and the heart of your descendants, to love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul, in order that you may live. Deut. 30:6

See now that I, I am He, and there is no god besides Me; it is I who puts to death and gives life. I have wounded, and it is I who heals; and there is no one who can deliver from My hand. Deut. 32:39

The Lord kills and makes alive; He brings down to Sheol and raises up. The Lord makes poor and rich; He brings low, He also exalts. 1 Sam. 2:6-7

But He is unique and who can turn Him? And what His soul desires, that He does. For He performs what is appointed for me, and many such decrees are with Him. Job 23:13-14

But our God is in the heavens; He does whatever He pleases. Ps. 115:3

“But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.” 1 Cor. 2:14

For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to become conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren; And whom He predestined, these He also called; and whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified. Rom. 8:29,30

For though the twins were not yet born, and had not done anything good or bad, in order that God’s purpose according to His choice might stand, not because of works, but because of Him who calls. Rom. 9:11

Does not the potter have a right over the clay, to make from the same lump one vessel for honor, and another for dishonor? What if God, although willing to demonstrate His wrath and to make His power known, endured with much patience vessels of wrath prepared for destruction? In order that He might make known the riches of His glory upon vessels of mercy, which He prepared beforehand for glory,Even us, whom He also called, not from among Jews only, but also from among Gentiles. In the same way then, there has also come to be at the present time a remnant according to God’s gracious choice. Rom. 11:5

But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to shame the wise….that no man should boast before God. 1 Cor. 1:27-29

But by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace toward me did not prove vain; but I labored even more than all of them, yet not I, but the grace of God with me. 1 Cor. 15:10

Who gave Himself for our sins, that He might deliver us out of this present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father. Gal. 1:4

But when He who had set me apart from my mother’s womb, and called me through His grace, was pleased to reveal His Son in me. Gal. 1:15-16

Just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world. He predestined us to adoption as sons through Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the kind intention of His will, to the praise of the glory of His grace. Eph. 1:4-6

In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to His purpose who works all things after the counsel of His will.

But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved). Eph. 2:1-5

For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is a gift of God; not as a result of works, that no one should boast. Eph. 2:8-9

For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them. Eph. 2:10

Work out your salvation with fear and trembling; for it is God who is at work in you, both to will and to work for His good pleasure. Phil. 2:12-13

God has chosen you from the beginning for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit and faith in the truth. 2 Thess. 2:13

Who has saved us, and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was granted us in Christ Jesus from all eternity. 2 Tim. 1:9

Fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith. Heb. 12:2

Peter…to those…who are chosen according to the foreknowledge of God the Father.. 1 Peter 1:1

Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, and to make you stand in the presence of His glory blameless with great joy. Jude 1:24

And those who are with Him are the called and chosen and faithful. Rev. 17:14

The Christian humanist does not like the idea of submitting to the sovereign God because the Christian humanist wants to think that he/she is in control. But, no, the Christian humanist is not in control, rather is under the control of the sovereign God. Remember that God uses the foolishness of preaching to save, but he is the one who does the saving!

Maranatha brethren!

Christian Humanism

grace74545_455217251209607_918568958_n

Christians who deny the Biblical doctrine of total depravity are humanist Christians. In other words they add human goodness to the Adamic fallen nature. The Bible says that man is not good. There is nothing good in man at all outside of salvation by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. According to scriptures, mankind is dead in trespasses and sin. That means just what it says! DEAD!

The fallen nature is corrupt. (depraved) Nothing is good in man. Not in the mind, the will, or the emotions which are all part of the brain process. In the Old Testament when God told the Israelites to choose life, what he was saying was to choose to be under the law and the animal sacrifice system in order to be right with God. The new covenant was not in effect back then and so men had to be under God’s grace system at that time which was a temporary covering for sin. It was not in any way a heart changing system.

To say today that man must choose his salvation is to say that some part of man is inherently good which is not scriptural. What does the Bible really say about man’s condition in the fallen nature? Let me show you.

Romans 3: 9-31
What then? Are we better than they? No, in no wise: for we have before proved both Jews and Gentiles, that they are all under sin,
As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:
There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God.

They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.
Their throat is an open sepulchre; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips: Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness:

Their feet are swift to shed blood: Destruction and misery are in their ways, And the way of peace have they not known, There is no fear of God before their eyes. Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God. Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.

But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe, for there is no difference:

For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God, Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:

Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God. To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.

Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith.

Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.

Is he the God of the Jews only? is he not also of the Gentiles? Yes, of the Gentiles also: Seeing it is one God, which shall justify the circumcision by faith, and uncircumcision through faith. Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law.

Why is it that people think they can choose salvation? Why do they think that they can accept Jesus Christ? This is an unscriptural doctrine. Man has no good, he cannot choose any good for he does not seek God and in fact he CANNOT do good! Scriptures tell us clearly that man is in ENMITY (deep seated hatred) with God and is not subject to his laws and indeed CANNOT submit to his laws!

Because the carnal mind (sinful nature) is enmity (hatred) against God: for it IS NOT subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.” Romans 8:7

Many Christians have mixed the doctrine of humanism with the gospel of Jesus Christ. What does the doctrine of humanism teach? That Man is good in the state of nature.

What part of man is good so that he can freely choose the gospel? The soul? The spirit? The flesh? Did you know that the will is a function of the brain? Cut out that part of the brain and one cannot make rational choices.

The Bible says that there is none good, all are corrupt, (Depraved), all have the devil’s nature, unless God grants them repentance unto life through faith in Jesus Christ!

And Jesus said to him, “Why do you call me good? No one is good except God alone.” Mark 10:18/Luke 18:19

The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it?” Jeremiah 17:9 –

To the defiled and unbelieving, nothing is pure; but both their minds and their consciences are defiled. Titus 1:15-16

You must no longer walk as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their minds. They are darkened in their understanding, alienated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them, due to their hardness of heart. Ephesians 4:17-18

Whoever trusts in his own [heart] is a fool Proverbs 28:26

Maranatha Brethren.

Revelation of THE WORD Produces Faith.

grace165492_10151589898164641_1901489156_n

In order for a person to be really saved that person must understand by revelation (revealed knowledge ) by the Father through the Holy Spirit, who Jesus is.

This revealed knowledge is a supernatural impartation of knowing and understanding who Jesus is and why he came which cannot be initiated by man through his human will.

When this supernatural knowledge is revealed to a person then the faith of God for salvation is simultaneously released.

No one can come to Jesus unless the Father draws him according to scriptures. This drawing precedes salvation BUT salvation itself must be imparted through faith which comes as the Bible teaches through revelation of the Holy Spirit.

All those who are outside of Jesus Christ according to scripture are blinded in their understanding from the gospel. If one is blind how can he see unless his eyes be opened ? How can one’s eyes be opened when they are blind except through a miracle? Can the human will make a blind person see? What does the bible says? Lets take a look.

“And even if our gospel is veiled it is veiled only to those who are perishing. In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.” 2 Corinthians 4:3,4

“Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he CANNOT SEE the kingdom of God.” John 3:3

“To OPEN THEIR EYES, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.” ACTS 26:18

“But to this day the Lord has not given you a heart to understand or eyes to see or ears to hear.” Deuteronomy 29:4

“Then he opened their minds so that they might understand the Scriptures. ” Luke 24:45

As you can see prior to salvation people are blinded in their understanding to the gospel and only by revelation of the Holy Spirit do they see the kingdom of God and have faith for salvation.

Salvation is a gift from God. One cannot earn it by making a “decision” to become a Christian. Only God can make a Christian. There are some so educated in humanism that they have a problem with that but it is in the Bible.

How then can any be saved? With man it is impossible but with God all things are possible! We pray and preach the word then leave the results to God for he is the one who gives the increase.

I have given examples of conversions through revelation of the Holy Spirit below from the Bible.

Peter

When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am? And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets. He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but MY FATHER which is in heaven.

Nathanael

The day following Jesus would go forth into Galilee, and findeth Philip, and saith unto him, Follow me. Now Philip was of Bethsaida, the city of Andrew and Peter. 45Philip findeth Nathanael, and saith unto him, We have found him, of whom Moses in the law, and the prophets, did write, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph. And Nathanael said unto him, Can there any good thing come out of Nazareth? Philip saith unto him, Come and see. Jesus saw Nathanael coming to him, and saith of him, Behold an Israelite indeed, in whom is no guile! Nathanael saith unto him, Whence knowest thou me? Jesus answered and said unto him, Before that Philip called thee, when thou wast under the fig tree, I saw thee. Nathanael answered and saith unto him, Rabbi, THOU ART THE SON OF GOD; thou art the King of Israel. Jesus answered and said unto him, Because I said unto thee, I saw thee under the fig tree, believest thou? thou shalt see greater things than these. And he saith unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Hereafter ye shall see heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of man.

Peter, James, and John

Matthew 17
And after six days Jesus taketh Peter, James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into an high mountain apart And was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light. And, behold, there appeared unto them Moses and Elias talking with him. Then answered Peter, and said unto Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here: if thou wilt, let us make here three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias. While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him. And when the disciples heard it, they fell on their face, and were sore afraid. And Jesus came and touched them, and said, Arise, and be not afraid. And when they had lifted up their eyes, they saw no man, save Jesus only.

And as they came down from the mountain, Jesus charged them, saying, Tell the vision to no man, until the Son of man be risen again from the dead. And his disciples asked him, saying, Why then say the scribes that Elias must first come? And Jesus answered and said unto them, Elias truly shall first come, and restore all things. But I say unto you, That Elias is come already, and they knew him not, but have done unto him whatsoever they listed. Likewise shall also the Son of man suffer of them. Then the disciples understood that he spake unto them of John the Baptist.

Disciples on the road to Emmaus,

Luke 24:13-33
And, behold, two of them went that same day to a village called Emmaus, which was from Jerusalem about threescore furlongs. And they talked together of all these things which had happened. And it came to pass, that, while they communed together and reasoned, Jesus himself drew near, and went with them. BUT THEIR EYES WERE HOLDEN(BLINDED) THAT THEY SHOULD NOT KNOW HIM. And he said unto them, What manner of communications are these that ye have one to another, as ye walk, and are sad? And the one of them, whose name was Cleopas, answering said unto him, Art thou only a stranger in Jerusalem, and hast not known the things which are come to pass there in these days? And he said unto them, What things? And they said unto him, Concerning Jesus of Nazareth, which was a prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all the people: And how the chief priests and our rulers delivered him to be condemned to death, and have crucified him. But we trusted that it had been he which should have redeemed Israel: and beside all this, to day is the third day since these things were done. Yea, and certain women also of our company made us astonished, which were early at the sepulchre; And when they found not his body, they came, saying, that they had also seen a vision of angels, which said that he was alive.

And certain of them which were with us went to the sepulchre, and found it even so as the women had said: but him they saw not. Then he said unto them, O fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken: Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into his glory? And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself.

And they drew nigh unto the village, whither they went: and he made as though he would have gone further. But they constrained him, saying, Abide with us: for it is toward evening, and the day is far spent. And he went in to tarry with them. And it came to pass, as he sat at meat with them, he took bread, and blessed it, and brake, and gave to them. AND THEIR EYES WERE OPENED , AND THEY KNEW HIM; and he vanished out of their sight. And they said one to another, Did not our heart burn within us, while he talked with us by the way, and while he opened to us the scriptures?

Paul on the road to Damascus

Acts 9
And Saul, yet breathing out threatenings and slaughter against the disciples of the Lord, went unto the high priest, And desired of him letters to Damascus to the synagogues, that if he found any of this way, whether they were men or women, he might bring them bound unto Jerusalem.

And as he journeyed, he came near Damascus: and suddenly there shined round about him a light from heaven: And he fell to the earth, and heard a voice saying unto him, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?

And he said, WHO ART THOU LORD? And the Lord said, I AM JESUS whom thou persecutest: it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks. He trembling and astonished said, Lord, what wilt thou have me to do? And the Lord said unto him, Arise, and go into the city, and it shall be told thee what thou must do. And the men which journeyed with him stood speechless, hearing a voice, but seeing no man. And Saul arose from the earth; and when his eyes were opened, he saw no man: but they led him by the hand, and brought him into Damascus.

And he was three days without sight, and neither did eat nor drink. And there was a certain disciple at Damascus, named Ananias; and to him said the Lord in a vision, Ananias. And he said, Behold, I am here, Lord. And the Lord said unto him, Arise, and go into the street which is called Straight, and enquire in the house of Judas for one called Saul, of Tarsus: for, behold, he prayeth, And hath seen in a vision a man named Ananias coming in, and putting his hand on him, that he might receive his sight.

Then Ananias answered, Lord, I have heard by many of this man, how much evil he hath done to thy saints at Jerusalem: And here he hath authority from the chief priests to bind all that call on thy name. But the Lord said unto him, Go thy way: for he is A CHOSEN VESSEL UNTO ME, to bear my name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel:

For I will shew him how great things he must suffer for my name’s sake. And Ananias went his way, and entered into the house; and putting his hands on him said, Brother Saul, the Lord, even Jesus, that appeared unto thee in the way as thou camest, hath sent me, that thou mightest receive thy sight, and be filled with the Holy Ghost.

And immediately there fell from his eyes as it had been scales: and he received sight forthwith, and arose, and was baptized. And when he had received meat, he was strengthened. Then was Saul certain days with the disciples which were at Damascus. And straightway he preached Christ in the synagogues, that he is the Son of God.

The Woman at the well

John 4
Therefore, when the Lord knew that the Pharisees had heard that Jesus made and baptized more disciples than John (though Jesus Himself did not baptize, but His disciples), He left Judea and departed again to Galilee. But He needed to go through Samaria.

So He came to a city of Samaria which is called Sychar, near the plot of ground that Jacob gave to his son Joseph. 6Now Jacob’s well was there. Jesus therefore, being wearied from His journey, sat thus by the well. It was about the sixth hour.

A woman of Samaria came to draw water. Jesus said to her, “Give Me a drink.” For His disciples had gone away into the city to buy food.

Then the woman of Samaria said to Him, “How is it that You, being a Jew, ask a drink from me, a Samaritan woman?” For Jews have no dealings with Samaritans.

Jesus answered and said to her, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, ‘Give Me a drink,’ you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water.”

The woman said to Him, “Sir, You have nothing to draw with, and the well is deep. Where then do You get that living water? Are You greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well, and drank from it himself, as well as his sons and his livestock?” Jesus answered and said to her, “Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again, but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.”

The woman said to Him, “Sir, give me this water, that I may not thirst, nor come here to draw.” Jesus said to her, “Go, call your husband, and come here.”

The woman answered and said, “I have no husband.”
Jesus said to her, “You have well said, ‘I have no husband,’ for you have had five husbands, and the one whom you now have is not your husband; in that you spoke truly.”

The woman said to Him, “Sir, I perceive that You are a prophet. Our fathers worshiped on this mountain, and you Jews say that in Jerusalem is the place where one ought to worship.”
Jesus said to her, “Woman, believe Me, the hour is coming when you will neither on this mountain, nor in Jerusalem, worship the Father. You worship what you do not know; we know what we worship, for salvation is of the Jews. But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”

The woman said to Him, “I know that Messiah is coming” (who is called Christ). “When He comes, He will tell us all things.” Jesus said to her, “ I WHO SPEAK TO YOU AM HE

These are only some examples of people who the Father revealed Jesus to them by the Holy Spirit. You can even see how the Father revealed himself in the Old Testament to CHOSEN VESSELS, such as Samuel, Moses, David, Jonah, ect.

In conclusion to know Jesus and be saved requires revelation by God’s Spirit. There is no other way to salvation. All other ways are false ways producing apostates and false brethren. Many call themselves Christians because they are converted to a false gospel. Scriptures tell us that, “Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many( dic.a large number of, the majority of people) will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. Matthew 7:21-23

Mathew 11:25-27
In that hour Jesus rejoiced in the Spirit and said, “I thank You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that You have hidden these things from the wise and prudent and revealed them to babes. Even so, Father, for so it seemed good in Your sight.

All things have been delivered to Me by My Father, and no one knows who the Son is except the Father, and who the Father is except the Son, and the one to whom the Son wills to reveal Him

Luke 10;21-22
“No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up at the last day.

John 6:44
For you see your calling, brethren, that not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called. BUT GOD HAS CHOSEN the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and GOD HAS CHOSEN the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty;

2 Corinthians 11:1-5
But I fear, lest somehow, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, so your minds may be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. For if he who comes preaches another Jesus whom we have not preached, or if you receive a different spirit which you have not received, or a different gospel which you have not accepted-you may well put up with it! ”

Matthew 7:21-23
But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His. Romans 8:9

Volition and Free Will are Different

graceev5

Volition and free will are different. You can make choices within your slavery (WHETHER SLAVES TO SIN OR SLAVES TO RIGHTEOUSNESS) that you will be accountable for making; whether in sin as to how you sin and within grace as to how you heed the Lord in specifics but you are not free to determine your own fate!

You are either saved and have eternal life and are being conformed to the image of Jesus Christ, being a slave to righteousness or you are a slave to sin as an unsaved person, not of your own will but because you have a sin nature. You sin because you are a sinner but you choose the kind of sins you desire to walk in. So then ,where is your free will that allows you to do anything that you want outside of God’s soveriegn will? You have none!

Saving faith is a gift! In Heb 11:1 we read a Biblical definition of faith: “Faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen”. This verse tells us that faith is a conviction that we have regarding something that allows us to be able to act on it as if it were assured of happening. But where does such assurance come from? the Bible says that faith comes from God. Heb 12:2 says “Jesus, is the author and finnisher of faith”.

Faith originates with God and is completed with God. Biblical faith for salvation does not originated from man but is an attribute of God. Head knowledge or belief is NOT saving faith! Saving faith is a gift of grace to as many as the lord our God shall call.

Rom 12:3 says ” … God has given to each man measure of faith.” These two verses clearly tell us that faith is not something that we do or a presence of mind that we develop, but that faith is a gift from God. Faith is GIVEN !

Rom 10:17 says ” … faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God.” So faith is a gift from God that we receive from the word of Christ (rhema) which in this dispensation we get from the Bible rather than from a burning bush. So in His time He will alot faith to us as needed from the word of the Bible.

In 2 Cor 10:15 we see that faith can grow, We can have more faith as we have more of God’s word in our heart so as we study the Bible God adds to our faith and we grow in the grace of God by the grace of God and not by our own ability!

Yes, we can make choices in how we respond to God but this, is volition which is the act of making a conscious choice or decision but it is not having a will outside of God’s divine will. Jesus said that we are not able to make one hair black nor one hair white. We are subject to laws of nature, laws of man, and spiritual laws. Therefore, based on the premise of limitation by divine will and circumstancial encumberance as well as the will of others we really have NO FREE WILL !

All that anyone can do is make choices or volition but even choices have limitation and are subject to externals. As scripture says only God can change the heart of man. Only God can change a person from the old man to the new man, from the dead in trespasses and sin person to the born again of the Holy Spirit person!

Do you get the difference? You cannot will to be a teacher if God has not called you nor can you will to be rich if God has not called you, nor can you will to be a saint if God has not called you. The bible says that God makes people willing to come to him! “Thy people shall be willing in the day of thy power” Psalms 110:3

People can only do what God allows and even the unsaved have limits. God allows the cup of iniquity to be full with some and he alone determines that measure. Many people teach that they can control God by prayers and confessions but this is not so! Jesus is Lord and no other.

Jesus himself prayed ” Not mine but thy will be done.”
That being said, even Jesus is in submission to the will of the Father.

The scripture does say that God has mercy on whom he will have mercy and who he wills he hardens. God raised up Pharaoh to show mercy to his elect by allowing Pharoh’s heart to stay hard. In this way he could demonstrate his power to his people. God can soften a heart and he can let one stay hard, according to his sovereign will.

If you are a slave to righteousness by being born again then you will be in submission to God. If Christ is really living in you then you are in the Spirit and abiding in Christ. Many claim to know the Lord when in fact they do not. If one lives like the devil then as the bible says, they belongs to the devil.

“A good tree cannot produce evil fruit and neither can a bad tree produce good fruit.” Matthew 7:18

“If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth. ” 1 John 1:6

God’s will is that you produce fruit if you are a real Christian and that is why he said to check out the fruit. If there are no fruits of righteousness in a person’s life then they are probably not saved! Christians can sin as it says in the book of John but if any one is truly born of God then they will not live a habitual life of sin for God’s seed lives in them and they therefore cannot live a life style of sin.

“Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him.Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.

He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.” 1 John 3:6-10

“For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication: That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour; Not in the lust of concupiscence, even as the Gentiles which know not God. ” I Thess. 4:3-5

Saving faith is given as a gift from God. You cannot in anyway earn it or contrive it of your own ability. Man’s “faith” or human belief is limited and he is not able to comprehend the gospel because he is dead in sins and blinded by the god of this world.

The sin nature controled by Satan is the influence on the minds of men and expressed by the ideals, opinions, goals, hopes and views of unregenertated humanity. Satan’s influences also encompass the world’s philosophies, education, and commerce as well as the thoughts, ideas, speculations and false religions of the world.

“We know that we are from God, and the whole world lies in the power of the evil one.” 1 John 5:19

“The god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.” 2 Corinthians 4:4

“Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.” John 8:44

It is through the preaching of the word that God’s faith is released by God’s will and not of our works, that is our own ability. “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith–and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God, not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. ” Ephesians 2:8,9

Therefore, we cannot boast that it was our faith that saved us when Grace and Faith are both gifts from God.

God also grants repentance to the acknowledging of the truth the Bible tells us. We can of our own self do nothing as Jesus said. Born again Christians are called to preach the word of God and the Holy Spirit’s job is to convert the hearer to the gospel.

“Then hath God also to the Gentiles granted repentance unto life.” Acts 11:18

“Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?” Romans 2:4

“Now I rejoice, not that ye were made sorry, but that ye sorrowed to repentance: for ye were made sorry after a godly manner, that ye might receive damage by us in nothing. For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death. ” 2Co 7:9,10

“In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;” 2Ti 2:25

In Matthew Chapter 16 Peter had made his confession of faith in Christ and said, “ Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God .”

The Lord Christ answered him and said, “Simon, son of Jonah, flesh and blood hath not reveal this to you; but my Father in heaven.”

Also in John chapter 1 it plainly says that we receive Jesus Christ not by our will but by God’s will.“To as many as received him to them gave he power to become thwe sons of God, born no tof the will of flesh, nor of the will of man, but by the will of God.” 1 John 3:6-10

The Lord builds his church, he alone adds the numbers.

“Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved. “Acts 2:47

“I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase. So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase.” 1 Corinthians 3:6,7

“And when the Gentiles heard this, they were glad, and glorified the word of the Lord: and as many as were ordained to eternal life believed. “ Acts 13:48

Ordain- To order by virtue of superior authority; decree or enact. To prearrange unalterably, predestine

” For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.” Romans 8:29,30

Predestinate

To destine or determine in advance, foreordain.

“‘For many are called, but few are chosen.” Matthew 22:14

“Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.” John 15:16

“For the LORD hath chosen Jacob unto himself, and Israel for his peculiar treasure.” Psalm 135:4

“But the Lord said unto him, Go thy way: for he is a chosen vessel unto me, to bear my name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel: For I will shew him how great things he must suffer for my name’s sake.” Acts 9:15,16

“But thou, Israel, art my servant, Jacob whom I have chosen, the seed of Abraham my friend. Thou whom I have taken from the ends of the earth, and called thee from the chief men thereof, and said unto thee, Thou art my servant; I have chosen thee, and not cast thee away.” Isaiah 41:8,9

“But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light. ” 2 Peter 2:9

“And they prayed, and said, Thou, Lord, which knowest the hearts of all men, shew whether of these two thou hast chosen, That he may take part of this ministry and apostleship, from which Judas by transgression fell, that he might go to his own place.” Acts 1:24,25

“And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness. But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth: Whereunto he called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.” 2 Thess. 2:11-14

” In that day, saith the LORD of hosts, will I take thee, O Zerubbabel, my servant, the son of Shealtiel, saith the LORD, and will make thee as a signet: for I have chosen thee, saith the LORD of hosts.” Haggi 2:23

“Jesus answered them, Have not I chosen you twelve, and one of you is a devil? He spake of Judas Iscariot the son of Simon: for he it was that should betray him, being one of the twelve.” John 60-71

Chosen

Selected from or preferred above others: the chosen few. Having been selected by God; elect.

“And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other“.Matthew 24:31

“Paul, a servant of God, and an apostle of Jesus Christ, according to the faith of God’s elect, and the acknowledging of the truth which is after godliness;”Titus 1:1

“And I will bring forth a seed out of Jacob, and out of Judah an inheritor of my mountains: and mine elect shall inherit it, and my servants shall dwell there.” Isahiah 65:9

“Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.” 1 Peter 1:2

“For false Christs and false prophets shall rise, and shall shew signs and wonders, to seduce, if it were possible, even the elect ” Mark 13:22 ( BUT IT IS NOT POSSIBE TO DECIEVE THE ELECT OF GOD PRAISE THE LORD…THOSE WHO BELIEVE FALSE DOCTRINE WILL EITHER COME TO THE KNOWLEGE OF THE TRUTH WHEN PRESENTED WITH IT IF GOD WILLS OR STAY DECIEVED AND GO INTO PERDITION)

“The elder unto the elect lady and her children, whom I love in the truth; and not I only, but also all they that have known the truth; For the truth’s sake, which dwelleth in us, and shall be with us for ever” 2 John 1:1,2

Elect

To pick out; select: elect an art course. 3. To decide, especially by preference: elected to take the summer off. 4. To select by divine will for salvation. Used of God. Chosen deliberately; singled out. One that is chosen or selected. 5.One selected by divine will for salvation. 6. An exclusive group of people

In conclusion; Volition means the act of making a decision. This act comes from the flesh. When the part of the brain which makes choices is injured in people they are not able anymore to make rational choices. This is a scientific fact. The human brain cannot created faith. FAITH COMES BY HEARING GOD’S WORD AND HEARING GOD’S WORD (ABILITY TO HEAR) COMES FROM GOD. Faith is a gift from God given to God’s elect chosen in him from the foundation of the world.

Free will is nothing more than human philosophy which comes from the philosopher Aristotle in the classical Greek doctrine but is not a biblical doctrine. Free will was never taught by the reformers; not by John Wycliff ,Martin Luther, John Calvin, john Knox, the Puritians,George Whitefeild, John Bunyan, Charles Spurgeon, ect.

Free will is a last days false doctrine which undermines the faith of God and the blood of Jesus. It is a heresy opposed by the early church which has its roots in Pelagism and Arminianism which was condemned by the Synod of Dordrecht (Dort) in 1618-1619.

The Bible teaches that God is absolutely sovereign and all-powerful. “…the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will…. and he doeth according to his will in the army of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth: and none can stay his hand, or say unto him, What doest thou?” (Dan. 4:32, 35).

The Bible also teaches total depravity, that is, that man, in every part of his nature (intellect, emotions and will) is dead in trespasses and sins and cannot give himself spiritual birth. Regeneration (the spiritual birth) is entirely the working of grace through faith and not from one’s own ability or will.

“And you hath he quickened,(made alive) who were dead in trespasses and sins” (Eph. 2:1). “Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God” John. 1:13

In conclusion, Free will is not a biblical concept, it is rather a humanist concept. We are Free in the Lord or slaves to sin. Either way there is no middle ground.

Righteousness is of Faith

grace1779932_587534961324872_2126307772_n

When Joshua asked the Israelites to choose if they would serve the Lord by obedience to his commands under the law(See Joshua 24) they responded by saying, “Yes, WE WILL serve the Lord.” But if you read this chapter further(and many take this scripture completely out of its context) you will find that Joshua said…”N0 YE CANNOT SERVE THE LORD!”

What Joshua said in fact was, because God is holy and just and punishes sin you will not be able to measure up.” Look at vrs. 19,20

The Israelites however, just ignored the facts and insisted that they could keep the law. But if you read the Bible in the continuation of the story of the Israelite’s history you will find that what Joshua said was true, they could not keep the law and in fact stumbled over and over again to the point of even being so stiff necked that they rejected the Messiah who came to bring the New Covenant of GRACE to them.

In Romans chapter 9 we find that the “children of the Promise” the Israelites, stumbled at the stumbling stone. What does this mean exactly? Well, if you go back to Joshua 24 you will find that Joshua said to the Israelites, “Ye cannot serve the LORD: for he is an holy God; he is a jealous God; he will not forgive your transgressions nor your sins. If ye forsake the LORD, and serve strange gods, then he will turn and do you hurt, and consume you, after that he hath done you good.”

Then the Israelites responded by saying in effect that WE WILL CHOOSE TO OBEY THE LAWS OF GOD. Now keep in mind that Joshua offered them the law to reveal their sin but he also said to them “offer your hearts to the Lord.”

If the heart is desperately wicked as the Bible says then the heart that is wicked is not able then to keep God’s law now is it? Scriptures say,”How can an Ethiopian change the color of his skin? How can you who are evil learn to do good”?

The heart which is desperately wicked can never choose to do good or to obey God’s commandments. Man’s heart must be made new in order to serve the Lord, and this comes by the born again experience and not by the will of the mind.

Putting away of our “gods” is the first step in coming to Christ. What are our gods? Anything that is self orientated, including our “I WILL CHOOSE TO OBEY THE LAW.”

This was the case of the Israelites who had a very self righteous attitude here and still continues to this day, preferring the law instead of GRACE.

“And the people said unto Joshua, Nay; but we will serve the LORD. And Joshua said unto the people, Ye are witnesses against yourselves that ye have chosen you the LORD, to serve him. And they said, We are witnesses. Now therefore put away, said he, the strange gods which are among you, and incline your heart unto the LORD God of Israel.”

Now, read on to find out what was the stumbling stone? Joshua 24:18-23

“And the people said unto Joshua, The LORD our God will we serve, and his voice will we obey. So Joshua made a covenant with the people that day, and set them a statute and an ordinance in Shechem. And Joshua wrote these words in the book of THE LAW OF GOD, and took A GREAT STONE, and set it up there under an oak, that was by the sanctuary of the LORD. And Joshua said unto all the people, Behold THIS STONE shall be a witness unto us; for it hath heard all the words of the LORD which he spake unto us: it shall be therefore a witness unto you, lest ye deny your God. So Joshua let the people depart, every man unto his inheritance.”

According to the New Testament the stone which the builders (under the law) rejected, (those building their own way to heaven) became the chief corner stone of the spiritual building of God’s church made without hands (no man works) but made by GOD ALONE. (Romans 9: 27)

“This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner.” Acts 4:11

“The stone which the builders rejected has become the head stone of the corner.” Psalm 118:22

So if we continue to try to be justified and made righteous by the law we are not under grace because the scriptures say that those under law stumble at the stone…JESUS CHRIST…preferring their own righteousness under the law.

You cannot “choose” to serve God for in doing so you have put your own righteousness in the equation. Can you see that now? Vessels of mercy always receive Jesus Christ because they have been “called by Grace into this hope”. Romans 5:2

Romans 9 says that RIGHTEOUSNESS IS OF FAITH unto all who believe (Jew or Gentile) and that the law is a stumbling stone in receiving Jesus Christ. The law shows us that we are sinners and so we are either going to respond by humbly saying,”Be merciful to me a sinner” or “I WILL CHOOSE to serve you God, under the law.”

“Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God. Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.

But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference: For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Being justified FREELY BY HIS GRACE through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.

Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith. Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.” Romans 3:19-28

In conclusion, salvation is by faith, our righteous comes by faith, and those who come to Jesus are as many as the lord our God shall call. Receiving Jesus Christ is a supernatural act of grace and not by the choice of one’s will for when we will to serve God we put ourselves under the law. Those in Christ are born again by grace through faith, not of themselves, NOT OF THE WILL OF MAN, but the will of God. Ephesians 2:8 Sola Scriptura!
