The Remission of Blood



The scriptures tell us that without the remission of blood there is no remission of sins. Let’s find out what exactly this means. According to the Bible, remission means in Greek, aphesis, which is forgiveness, deliverance and liberty. In other words, in order to have deliverance which is freedom from bondage or imprisonment, and forgiveness which is , pardoning of sins (letting them go as if they had never been committed),  BLOOD MUST BE SHED.

Under the law, a life must be given up for a life. The soul that sins shall die.  Therefore, either you die or else blood is shed for your remission.  A sinner cannot die for a sinner because both would end up in hell any way. This is why the bloodshed must not be tainted with sin from the soul who shed it. God knew this and that is why he provided the perfect sacrifice for us. Jesus, who was without sin, gave his life up for the sinner.

There is one more thing. In order to receive this remission, one must repent. Scriptures tell us in Mark 1:4 that John and Jesus (Luke 24:27) preached a baptism of repentance for the remission of sins. In other words, one must turn from any and all activity that excludes faith in the blood for remission of sins and turn toward God and trusting in his remission of blood through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. Scriptures plainly tell us that it is FAITH IN THE BLOOD that brings salvation, to be saved from the penalty of sin. PERIOD!!! NOTHING ELSE!! NOTHING ADDED.

Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God. Romans 3:25

Paul tells us the same thing. He says that under the law all are condemned to die eternally because of sin unless they turn to Jesus Christ for the remission of their sins. Read all of Romans chapter 3.

In a nut shell I will simplify Paul’s message.

. All are sinners and condemned to die eternally.

  • Right standing with God comes only through faith in Jesus Christ as the remitter of sins.
  • To be justified (just as if you had never sinned) comes as a free gift through the redemption provided by Jesus Christ.
  • God gave Jesus as propitiation (appeasing the law of God) through FAITH IN HIS BLOOD for the remission of sins.
  • No one can boast that they earned their salvation by any works of the law whatsoever.
  • The law of God is established through faith in the blood of Jesus or in other words the blood of Jesus has fulfilled all the righteous requirements of the law.

In conclusion, remission from sins comes by FAITH IN THE BLOOD OF JESUS ALONE without the works of the law. Read the book of Galatians, for confirmation, because Paul specifically says that if you trust any other message then you are trusting in a false message that will result in you dying for your sins, and spending eternity separated from God, in everlasting punishment. So, make sure that you are really saved by calling on God to forgive you from all your sins based on faith (trusting in) the blood of Jesus Christ for your remission.





Take No Thought for Your Life

Jesus said in his word that he did not want us to “take thought” for our life. That means in the Greek, Merimna, which means to be anxious, troubled, worried, prompting one’s interest, looking out for, caring a lot about. Jesus knew that by our taking thought we can become mentally and emotionally sick. Science reveals that excessive worry causes stress and can make us physically and mentally sick.

The root of much of emotional anxiety and depression is caused by worry. This is why Jesus said not to worry. He also gave us a remedy for worry. Jesus said, to understand that you cannot make one hair black or white, or in other words, you do not have the power to change circumstances, situations or people. This is the first step to healing, recognizing that you are powerless to do much of anything in this world’s trials and tribulations, at least anything that will transform your heart or give you the miracle that you need.

Now that we have come to this conclusion: and have surrendered to the Lord by not striving and fretting, what now? Jesus goes on to say, “Have faith in God”. Trust him. Really all faith is, is trust. That’s the real meaning. Pistis- trust in, rely upon and cling to.

Do we have a part to play in this place of trust? YES! Not only do we cast down worry, fear, and anxiety, BUT we take thought in a different direction. Let me show you what the word says.

In Malachi, God says that he revealed himself to those who thought on him. Read it for yourself. Also, in Acts 10:19, Peter was mediating or thinking about what God showed him and as he did the Spirit of God spoke to him. We can see this happening throughout scripture. This is why scriptures tell us to think on good, lovely, pure things etc. What has all these qualities but the word of God, the Bible? As we mediate or think on God and what he says in his word, he will show up! When God shows up, miracles happen!

1 Corinthians 3:13, tells us to stop thinking childish things, or in other words stop thinking like a carnal person who has a carnal mind. God wants to renew our mind with the word of God so we think God thoughts! Faith comes by hearing God speak and this hearing ability comes from the word of God. It is important to read the word and mediate on in, think about it!

Let the Lord speak to you through it! Then when you have his word in your heart you will not worry, sin or be in fear. Why? Because God will show up in your life and do miracles for you! The Lord will only answer prayers that line up with his word. Find out all his promises which are yes and amen and then pray them, mediate on them so God can give you revelation for your circumstance.

Take no thought for your life! Don’t worry, fret or be in fear! The Lord has promised and he is faithful to perform his promises. The storm can rage but we trust in the God who calms the storm! No weapon that is formed against us will prosper! God said it! He cannot lie.

My next point is, wait on the Lord. We always want everything now. Our fast paced society makes us demand it BUT God does not work that way. He does things according to his timing and his ways and his plan and so we must be patient. Patience is a fruit of the Spirit and a godly attribute. Who ever heard of a ring popping out of the silversmith pot? Things take time and good things are worth waiting for! God is working behind the scenes so we must trust him in bringing the victory according to his timing.

My last point, be thankful! Sometimes we must learn this the hard way; I know I have had to. Until we can be content in our situation, we will wander around in limbo, just like the Israelites in the wilderness. There is always someone worse off than us, keep that in mind next time you are tempted to complain.

God loves a grateful heart. Now that does not mean that God does not want to promote you but until we can be appreciative of what we have we will never be given more. Grumblers and complainers are taking thought to their life to the point of making everyone else around them miserable! Be thankful and the Lord will bless you with more in his time.

So, take no thought for your life! Take thought for the word of God! Then you will be successful in all the Lord has called you to do!

Greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world.


“Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.” 1 John 4:4

We all know that the Bible says that Satan is a liar and a thief and that he comes to kill, steal and destroy, but did you know also that the greater one lives in you? That is if you are born again of the Holy Spirit.

Let’s take a look at what the Bible says Satan and his hordes are capable of doing, and by the way don’t underestimate the devil’s cunning because if you don’t know the greater one’s power in you then he really can wipe you out. The devil uses people and even Christians so be aware of this.

• And Satan stood up against Israel, and provoked David to number Israel. 1 Chronicles 21:1
• And ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan hath bound, lo, these eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the Sabbath day? Luke 13:16
• And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you that he may sift you as wheat, but I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not.
• And supper being ended, the devil having now put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, to betray him. John 13:2
• And after the sop Satan entered into him. Then said Jesus unto him, that thou doest, do quickly. John 13:27
• But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost. Acts 5:3
• In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God. 2 Corinthians 4:4
• And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins; Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience. Ephesians 2:2
• And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will. 2 Timothy 2:26

We can see that the devil can provoke someone to do something, bind up, sift, put something in the heart, enter into, blind, work in, and take captive. The devil can even use us if we are not careful because he knows our weaknesses.

The greater one (the Holy Spirit) in us is smarter than the devil and so we need to rely on him for wisdom, knowledge and his power in prayer. He will tell us what to do in every attack that comes against us. Be aware that the devil works in the heart of people in their weaknesses. Behind the scenes, the demonic realm is using people to do their dirty work. That is why the Bible tells us that we are not fighting flesh and blood but demonic powers.

These demonic powers work in people and through people to accomplish their evil deeds and we should not get into it with another person because the devil is inciting them. What we need to do on the offensive is guard our hearts as scriptures tell us. We all blow it and I know that I certainly have, but the Lord has been showing me that the people who rise up against you are the devil’s schemes to try and make you ineffective for God.

We should also pray about everything and cast down all thoughts contrary to scriptures. Leave vengeance and vindication to God and he will come on the scene and help you. Don’t forget that he has angels working on your behalf as well.

I would not advise, going looking for trouble, because if we are on the war path, most certainly we will find trouble! Do not underestimate the devil’s power to deceive, but at the same time keep your eyes on Jesus and fulfilling your call and God will give you victory through Jesus Christ in every battle!

“Above all else, guard thy heart; for out of it flows the issues of life.” Proverbs 4:24

“For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Ephesians 6:12

“Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.” Ephesians 6:12 KJV

Remember that the greater one lives in you and he is quite able to outwit the devil and his demons!

Afflictions of the Righteous


Even though the devil is responsible for tempting, attacks by people and other adverse circumstance, we must not only look at what the devil is trying to do but what God is trying to say to us through the adversity. While Satan may hinder he can never stop the will of God. Our trials may have godly reasons and not only evil intents of the enemy.

Take Job for example, the Lord gave the devil permission to attack him. As I have written about in a prior blog, Job had the sin of self righteousness, he thought that he was a pretty good guy until the Lord showed him through his trials that he wasn’t all that godly.

This still happens today. Satan is still accusing us before God’s throne. What is God trying to show us about the sin in our life through the trial? What unrighteousness do we need to recognize and repent of? Paul tells us that ALL THINGS are working together for our good and this includes our trials and tribulations.

Are we being persecuted? Do we really love our enemy or do we retaliate when offended? Are we being evil spoken of? Do we care so much about our reputations or are we serving Jesus and willing to suffer persecution as he suffered persecution? Are we experiencing financial lack? Do we love the things of the world more that God? Are we willing to live on less for his sake sometimes? How about our pretentious faith when the going gets tough? Do we try to fake it or just let go and let God?

The Lord speaks to us through the afflictions that he allows to happen in our life. Satan can do nothing unless God allows it. He has no power above that. The Bible says that God works all things out for our good, for a divine purpose, and not just to come to our rescue every time we have a battle. The lessons of life are meant to teach us and train us to be godly. What is God trying to teach you through your trial right now?

And the Lord said unto Satan, Behold, all that he hath is in thy power; only upon himself put not forth thine hand. So Satan went forth from the presence of the Lord.” Job 1:12

That no man should be moved by these afflictions: for yourselves know that we are appointed thereunto. “ 1 Thessalonians 3:3

Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God;” 2 Timothy 1:8

But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry. “ 2 Timothy 4:5

Take, my brethren, the prophets, who have spoken in the name of the Lord, for an example of suffering affliction, and of patience.” James 5:10

And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.” Romans 8:28.29

Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the Lord delivereth him out of them all.” Psalm 34:19

Persecutions, afflictions, which came unto me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra; what persecutions I endured: but out of [them] all the Lord delivered me.” 2 Timothy 3:11

Be patient in affliction the Bible says for God is doing a work in our hearts!

God has not given us a spirit of fear!


Many times we read this scripture, “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” KJV 2 Timothy 1:7, without fully understanding what it really means. I for one, love to search deeper into the word of God to find its true treasures and then I like to share what I find.

First of all we need to realize that fear can be a negative emotion which can bind us up in helplessness. I know many look at fear in this verse as being a demonic force but that is not necessarily so. The word for “spirit” in this verse is defined as pneuma in the Greek which means: a spirit, i.e. a simple essence, devoid of all or at least all grosser matter, and possessed of the power of knowing, desiring, deciding, and acting. (Strong’s concordance).

Now that may or may not be an evil spirit but just so you know, any negative emotion in operation usually has a demonic influence as well because the devils like to take advantage of our weakness but let’s look at it from a natural perspective. If we do then we can also at the same time give the devil his walking papers.

The dictionary defines fear as , an unpleasant emotion caused by the belief that someone or something is dangerous, likely to cause pain, or a threat.

So when we fear we actually believe that something is going to cause us harm in some way. As a Christian we need to realize that our very lives are in God’s hands and this should be comforting but many times we fear because we do not trust God in a given situation. Now I am not here to condemn anyone for this because if we are honest with ourselves we will admit that we all have fear in some area. God does not condemn us either but wants to help us. He is on our side!

How many of us would trust someone so much that we would just fall from a building and let that person catch us? I for one have a problem trusting anyone so no not me! Do I look like an idiot? Well, God understands this, so those people who condemn you for having little faith can just take a hike! Trust is earned! God wants to show he is strong on our behalf! He even says this in his word! “For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to shew himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him.” 2 Chronicles 16:9

Now let’s get back to the verse we are examining. God has not given us a “spirit of fear “or in other Bible versions it is translated timidity, not having enough faith, bottom line. But guess what? God has given us a solution and that solution is his Holy Spirit! He has given us the Spirit of love and power and a sound mind. Let us examine what the Lord uses to conquer fear.

The Holy Spirit which is love is our answer to the problem of fear….agapē- affection, good will, love, benevolence, brotherly love. So in other words God wants to pour his love on us. The Bible says that perfect love casts out fear. 1 John 4:18

When fear comes ask the Holy Spirit to pour his love on you! Show he is strong for you! Prove his love and devotion. He wants to do that! Contrary to what some people preach that we should have blind faith in God the scriptures clearly teach us that God demonstrates his love to us.

The bible is loaded with God giving evidences! He proved himself to Thomas! He did not condemn him but demonstrated his love and said (my paraphrase)”now see her, I am who I say I am, so don’t be afraid!” And then poof the fear went and Thomas went on to be a great man of God!

God does not get glory out of some one pretending to have faith when they don’t! Just admit your fear and God will help you!

God will also give you his power, (dynamis) to overcome fear! This means that he will do a miracle for you by giving you his strength and ability to overcome fear! God will also by his Holy Spirit give you hissōphronismos, self control. So instead of freaking out you will be able to handle the situation with appropriate thinking. In other words you will be able to deal with the fear in a proper perspective.

Instead of fear binding you, you will be able to look at the problem with the love and power of the Holy Spirit and overcome.

Romans 5:5 tells us that God’s love is poured into our hearts by his Holy Spirit and therefore fear will be cast out. All that we have to do is call out to the Lord in times of trouble and he will be there to do all that he has promised. God will prove himself trust worthy time and time again and then you will learn to trust him because he demonstrates his love! That is he clearly show the existence or truth of (something) by giving proof or evidence.

“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. “Romans 5:8 (commendeth -Synistēmi- to demonstrate, to show, prove, establish, exhibit)

In closing let me leave you with this, fear brings torment and we know that torment is not from God and so when we fear we are not made perfect in God’s love and it is doubtful that we ever will be until we reach heaven but the Lord has made a way for us to deal with all fear and that is through the love, power, and self control that he gives us through his Holy Spirit! All we have to do is ask him! God wants to demonstrate to you his ability to be strong for you in all situations!

Discerning of spirits

Did you know that the gift of the discerning of spirits is not only the supernatural ability to distinguish the demonic realm activity from the heavenly spiritual activity BUT also to be able to distinguish between the darkness in an individual and the light of God in an individual?

This gift also enables the possessor to discern the doctrine and speech of an individual whether it is of God or not, meaning whether one is speaking under Holy Spirit inspiration, demonic or of the carnal nature.

According to the dictionary, discernment is “the activity of determining the value and quality of a certain subject or event, particularly the activity of going past the mere perception of something and making detailed judgments about that thing.”

To perceive: (a synonym of discern)
To become aware or conscious of (something); come to realize or understand. interpret or look on (someone or something) in a particular way; regard as.

All Christians are required to discern. “But examine everything carefully; hold fast to that which is good; abstain from every form of evil.”

Do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world” 1 John 4:1

However, not all have the particular gift of the discerning of spirits just like all can prophecy but not all are prophets. (Another subject)

The discerning of spirits is one of the revelation gifts, that is it is revealed supernaturally by the Holy Spirit, and can operates in many different ways according as the Lord has dispersed an operation (s). Scriptures tell us that there is diversity of operations of the gifts but all come from the Holy Spirit.

This gift of the discerning of spirits may operate by visions, dreams, or inspiration and each of these have certain ways in which they operate. (Another topic)

Let me give you an example of the gift of the discerning of spirits in operation. I was at a business meeting one day and I met a lady who by the Spirit of God it was revealed to me that she was a Christian. I saw in the spirit realm the light of God in her. I knew intuitively that she was a Christian. After some conversation this lady told me that she was a Christian as I was. This confirmed what I had been shown.

Later on that week I met a woman who I vaguely knew but was one who attended church and was known to be a Christian. However, it was revealed to me by the Holy Spirit that she was not a Christian as she had not been born again and was only a religious person. I saw in the spirit realm darkness on her and no light and this told me that she needed salvation.

The gift of the discerning of spirits by revelation from God can tell you if someone is saved or not, what their real motivations are, and the attitude in which they are dominated by. Now I realize that many attribute dark behavior as demonic but this is not so. Much of the sinful behavior of people is of the flesh and cannot be blamed on the devil because the sinful nature is also a part of the dark realm.

Since all without Christ belong to the darkness and are children of the devil by nature, then in this regard they are under demonic influence. However, it is my opinion that too much is attributed to devils when it is the carnal nature in operation. So many go to get deliverance when what they need is to die to their flesh. (Another topic)

For such men are false apostles, deceitful workmen, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ. And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. So it is no surprise if his servants, also, disguise themselves as servants of righteousness. Their end will correspond to their deeds”. 2 Corinthians 11:13-15

None of the rulers of this age understood it, for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. However, as it is written: “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him” but God has revealed it to us by his Spirit. The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God. For who among men knows the thoughts of a man except the man’s spirit within him? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. We have not received the spirit of the world but the Spirit who is from God, that we may understand what God has freely given us. This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, expressing spiritual truths in spiritual words. The man without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned. The spiritual man makes judgments about all things, but he himself is not subject to any man’s judgment: “For who has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct him?” But we have the mind of Christ.” 1 Corinthians 2:8-16

In conclusion, the gift of the discerning of spirits is the ability to distinguish what type of spiritual force is in operation, whether a demonic force and what kind, the ability to distinguish what type of anointing or move of the Holy Spirit is in operation, as well as the ability to distinguish the type of heart(spirit)is operating in man, as in the human nature.

Binding and Loosing

Concerning the topic of binding and loosing, I would first like to address that this spiritual concept is done through prayer and may or may not take a period of time through intersession. While I know that many walk around binding and loosing anything in sight I really must bring to your attention that we are never to participate in spiritual warfare with a high minded attitude.

Scriptures tell us that even Michael the archangel did not get huffy with Satan when he was disputing with him over the resurrection of Moses’ body, (another topic) but said, “the Lord rebuke you.”

In other words when we are participating in spiritual warfare we must make sure we have the mind of Christ, which is God’s will, in every situation. Now let’s take a look at what scriptures say concerning binding and loosing.

“I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.” Matt. 16:9

“Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.” Matt. 6:10

To bind up in the Greek means to forbid, prohibit, declare to be illicit. perideo to bind around one, i.e. enwrap:–bind about. For example, when one refuses to forgive someone they remain bound up. This was not given as a rebuke but as a fact. Now Jesus told us to forgive or we would not be forgiven so this has a twofold operation. However, we must remember that we need to read scripture according to context and not isolate to make a doctrine.

There are times when justice needs to be put forth and there are times when we need to operate in mercy, so it is best to get God’s will in each situation. For example Jesus said not to curse but rather bless and yet he cursed the fig tree. In doing so he was doing a prophetic act. The fig tree means Israel, and the Jews rejected him so he cursed them for this so that as Paul said to this day the Jews are blinded from the gospel.

If you have a problem with this take it up with God for it is in the bible. The bible says that a remnant according to election will be saved in these last days, not the whole nation of Israel. The nation will be brought into the kingdom only at the return of Jesus Christ.

“If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you withhold forgiveness from any, it is withheld.” John 20:23

“If your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault, between you and him alone. If he listens to you, you have gained your brother. But if he does not listen, take one or two others along with you, that every charge may be established by the evidence of two or three witnesses. If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church. And if he refuses to listen even to the church, let him be to you as a Gentile and a tax collector. Truly, I say to you, whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. Again I say to you, if two of you agree on earth about anything they ask, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven .Again I say to you, if two of you agree on earth about anything they ask, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them.” Matt.18:15-20

As you can see from this scripture, we are to try reconciliation but if the person refuses to listen then they are bound up. Read the next verse. Refusing to reconcile with your brother when he is willing can cause one to be bound. In other words he is not forgiven by God and will be left to the devil’s devices. In the bible Paul turned some men over to Satan so that they could be chastised for their good because they were disobedient and rebellious to scriptures.

According to the Greek scholar, A. T. Robertson, who wrote about binding and loosing from the Hebrew perspective : “To ‘bind’ (dêsêis) in rabbinical language is to forbid; to ‘loose’ (lusêis) is to permit” He says the Rabbis used this function and it was commonly known among the Jews. A. T. Robertson, Word Pictures in the New Testament (Baker Book House, Grand Rapids, MI, 1930), p. 134; comment on Matthew 16:19

When a rabbi bound something he forbade it to be done according to the law and when he loosed something it was then lawful under the law. For example as Paul says in scripture; to bind (in bind, to put under obligation, used of the law, duty; to be bound to one, a wife, a husband” – this speaks of Marriage and Covenant, of that which has been Bound together by the Lord.

This binding has a legal application. Now in a covenant one must remember that if one party breaks that covenant then the other party is loosed from the Covenant which is a legal contract. God said to the Jews that if they served him he would bless them but if not he would divorce them. Jeremiah compares Israel’s spiritual disloyalty to an adulterous woman who has been put away by the husband whom she betrayed. Jeremiah asks this question, “After she leaves him and “If a man divorces his wife, and she goes from him and becomes another man’s, may he return to her again?” Would not that land be greatly polluted? But you have played the harlot with many lovers; “Yet return to Me,” says the Lord. “Jeremiah 3:1

Deuteronomy 24:1-4 says that the original husband may never come back to his twice-divorced wife.

“because they did not continue in My covenant, and I disregarded them, says the Lord.”
Hebrews 8:9

Under the law Israel is divorced for her adultery so Israel can only be saved by coming under the new covenant of grace through faith by Jesus Christ. This applies to the divorced as well. Under grace a person can be forgiven for divorce just as God can forgive the Jew and reinstate under grace into the kingdom. Divorce is not the unpardonable sin, and yes a divorced person can remarry if they desire so but should only marry another Christian.

Today , binding and loosing also has another aspect in the spiritual realm. The church can forbid something and make it non allowable and can also loose something and make it free from darkness and bound rather to the Lord. Nowhere in scriptures does it say a Christian is free outside of servitude to Jesus Christ. We are free in him. That is free to follow the Holy Spirit’s leading but not free to do our own thing.

“Or how can someone enter a strong man’s house and plunder his goods, unless he first binds the strong man? Then indeed he may plunder his house.” Matt.12:29

In order to loose a person free from demonic strongholds the strong man needs to be bound. Satan has many bound up in darkness and unbelief. In order for them to understand the gospel the strong man needs to be bound or forbidden to operate. In praying for others we can ask in prayer that the strongman, the devil, be bound up so that we can see the person come to salvation or freedom.

“In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. “ 2 Cor.4:4

“Some sat in darkness and in the shadow of death, prisoners in affliction and in irons, for they had rebelled against the words of God, and spurned the counsel of the Most High. So he bowed their hearts down with hard labor; they fell down, with none to help. Then they cried to the LORD in their trouble, and he delivered them from their distress. Ps.107:10, 11

Jesus loosed a person bound by Satan. “ And He laid His hands on her, and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God. But the ruler of the synagogue answered with indignation, because Jesus had healed on the Sabbath; and he said to the crowd, “There are six days on which men ought to work; therefore come and be healed on them, and not on the Sabbath day.”

The Lord then answered him and said, “Hypocrite! Does not each one of you on the Sabbath loose his ox or donkey from the stall, and lead it away to water it? So ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan has bound—think of it—for eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the Sabbath?” And when He said these things, all His adversaries were put to shame; and all the multitude rejoiced for all the glorious things that were done by Him.” Luke 13:10-17

Loose – lyō -to loose any person (or thing) tied or fastened, to loose one bound, i.e. to unbind, release from bonds, set free, laws, as having a binding force, are likened to bonds, to annul, subvert, to do away with, to deprive of authority, whether by precept or act, to declare unlawful, to overthrow, to do away with

According to Acts 21:11 Paul was bound from operating in person but while he was in prison the word of God was loosed by the epistles he wrote. Sometimes it is not necessary to be in person, to minister God’s word. For those of us who have blogs teaching the word, it has even greater impact than if we ran around to every church. 2 Titus 2:9 says that God’s word is not bound and Ps.107:10 “He sent His word and healed them, And delivered them from their destructions.” And again Isaiah 55:11 “So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.”

When we are bound to Jesus Christ we are able to see loose the captives set free through intercession.

“Then certain of the vagabond Jews, exorcists, took upon them to call over them which had evil spirits the name of the Lord Jesus, saying, We adjure you by Jesus whom Paul preacheth. And there were seven sons of one Sceva, a Jew, and chief of the priests, which did so. And the evil spirit answered and said, Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are ye? And the man in whom the evil spirit was leaped on them, and overcame them, and prevailed against them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded.” Acts 19: 13-16;

These verses demonstrate that demonic powers recognize who Christians are. Because Paul was bound to Christ, this identified him as having authority over them. “Paul, the bound of Christ Jesus [the bound of Jesus Christ], and Timothy, brother, to Philemon, beloved, and our helper [and our even-worker],” Philemon 1:1

Scriptures teach us that binding can be done by the kingdom, the law binds, a person can be bound, and the devil can bind up. Loosing can be in the same way. Satan was loosed from the pit and demons are loosed to torment the lost, one can be bound by curses (Acts 23:12)

We are to be bound to Christ under grace under God’s will, loosed from the law which brings death and loosed from the devil’s captivity.

Acts 9:21- Jesus let himself be bound for God’s purpose.
Acts 24:27- Paul bound by God’s will.
Hebrews 13:3 – Christians can be bound as God wills.
Acts 23:12- bound by curses
John 8:33-bound by the law
Romans 8:12 and 1 Cor. 9:1 loosed from the law
Rev.9:15 loosed to do evil –bind up in fetters.

Gal.4 Free under grace. Do not use your liberty to fulfill the flesh- now that you are freed from the laws binding but rather be filled with the Spirit-walk in newness of life in the Spirit under Gods control his endowment of supernatural power.

Jesus came to set the captives free and this freedom comes through salvation. “And the book of the prophet Isaiah was handed to Him. And He opened the book and found the place where it was written, “THE SPIRIT OF THE LORD IS UPON ME, BECAUSE HE ANOINTED ME TO PREACH THE GOSPEL TO THE POOR. HE HAS SENT ME TO PROCLAIM RELEASE TO THE CAPTIVES, AND RECOVERY OF SIGHT TO THE BLIND, TO SET FREE THOSE WHO ARE OPPRESSED, TO PROCLAIM THE FAVORABLE YEAR OF THE LORD.” Luke 4:18 and Isaiah 61:
