THE GOSPEL OF GRACE MINISTRIES with Kim Balogh
All our WORKS: good deeds, achievements, sacrifices, human effort and human labor are unacceptable to God for righteousness, or right standing before a Holy God. Works of any kind can not earn our salvation and nor can they keep our salvation. According to the bible our own human “goodness” is rot!
But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.
Jesus Christ came not only to take away our sins but to destroy the power of sin. Sin shall not have dominion or rule over the Christian, according to scriptures, who……walk after the Spirit and not after the flesh. In other words if we are walking in the old man we are under law and condemnation and thus have guilt and self righteousness in order to justify our deeds BUT if we have been born of the Spirit of God and have put off the old man having that old man crucified with Christ, then we can live in liberty, faith, and a clean conscience.
The Bible says that Jesus is our righteousness, his goodness, holiness and virtue has been imputed to us, that is accredited to our account, so now we are complexly holy without sin and blameless in his sight. The Hebrew word for righteousness is tzedek: righteous, integrity, equity, justice, straightness. It is best understood as the product of upright, moral action in accordance with some form of divine plan.
This divine plan is to reveal a mystery, or THE MYSTERY, which is CHRIST IN YOU THE HOPE OF GLORY. Now, when we have become a child of God by the born again spiritual experience, and I did say experience, not just an acknowledgment of a truth, we have now residing in our very temple of the body, the Holy Spirit. Yes, that same Spirit that raised Christ from the dead, the same Holy Spirit that dwelt in the ark of the covenant, and the holy of holies in the temple of David.
Having said that, again I affirm that scriptures teach that nothing we do can earn acceptance or kudos with God. Now what about works? Doesn’t the Bible talk about works? YES indeed ! But not the works of the flesh, the human nature or human endeavors. This work is THE WORK of God operated by the Holy Spirit in and through the Christian according to each Christian’s measure of faith, gifts and callings.
So there is no condemnation to those in Christ Jesus walking according to the Holy Spirit’s leading in their individual lives. Abraham had a particular calling , he was not called to build an Ark and David was not called to build the temple and Peter was called to Jews while Paul was called to gentiles. In this same way Christians are called to their own particular job. Scriptures say, that we are created unto good works and that God has ordained us to walk in that calling. That is why we are told in scriptures not to compare ourselves with others. This is because we each have different gifts according to the will of God and he will make sure that we each work out our own salvation in Jesus by the power of his Holy Spirit.
Works done in the the flesh by the human nature will not justify a person with God. Righteousness must be of faith in the righteousness of Jesus Christ who alone produces works of righteousness through his people who are filled with his Holy Spirit. The bible also says that Christians are KEPT by the power of God until that day! If you are born again then you are God’s sheep and he will never let you fall. He will not fail to preform all his perfect will in you for he that is faithful has promised.
I will greatly rejoice in the LORD, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for he hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, he hath covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decketh himself with ornaments, and as a bride adorneth herself with her jewels.
For as the earth bringeth forth her bud, and as the garden causeth the things that are sown in it to spring forth; so the Lord GOD will cause righteousness and praise to spring forth before all the nations.
Romans Chapter 10
For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge. For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God. For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.
For Moses describeth the righteousness which is of the law, That the man which doeth those things shall live by them. But the righteousness which is of faith speaketh on this wise, Say not in thine heart, Who shall ascend into heaven? (that is, to bring Christ down from above)Or, Who shall descend into the deep? (that is, to bring up Christ again from the dead)
But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach, That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.
For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?
And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!
Jude 1 ; 24,25
Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy, To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.
Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified
For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.
