Faith (Biblical faith) is a gift from God, a fruit and attribute of the HOLY SPIRIT. All men have not faith according to the Bible.
“Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may have free course, and be glorified, even as it is with you: And that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men: for all men have not faith. But the Lord is faithful, who shall establish you, and keep you from evil.” 2 Thessalonians 3:1-3
Faith is not something we can conjure up on our own, nor is it something that we are born with. Ephesians 2:8-9 makes it very clear that faith is a gift from God, not because we deserve it or have earned it because faith is not from ourselves…. it is from God. Faith is not obtained by our own power or our free will. Faith is not simply an intellectual assent to something, or a belief system. Faith is a heart transformation which comes through divine revelation of the word of God and it is given by the Holy Spirit. Man cannot acquire Biblical faith by self effort. (no matter how much you read or quote scriptures) because faith is a divine inspiration which comes from the person of God’s character according to his will and good pleasure.
All born again Christians have each been given a measure of God’s faith and that faith will grow as one matures in the Lord. The gift of faith which is a spiritual endowment comes to a person for a specific thing at a specific time according to the will of God but it is not the same as our individual measure of faith. The gift of faith is a higher level of Gods faith given for a miracle to occur.
“To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit;”1 Corinthians 12:9
An example of the gift of faith gift in action is when Peter sees a lame man at the Beautiful Gate and calls on him to stand up and walk in the Name of Jesus. Acts 3:1-10
Jesus said even a small amount of God’s miraculous faith could move mountains. Matthew 17:20-21 and Matthew 21:21 as well as 1Corinthians 13:2
Faith is described in Hebrews 11:1 as being “certain of what we do not see.” It is the absolute belief that God is constantly working behind the scenes in every area of our lives, even when there is no tangible evidence to support that fact.
Faith is a gift, (Ephesians 2:8-9) which is also described as a fruit (or characteristic) which is produced in our lives by the Holy Spirit (Galatians 5:22). Scriptures say that faith grows as we submit to learning the word of God and by the power of the Holy Spirit that is at work in our lives.
We cannot by our own effort make faith appear in us for faith comes from God alone. “Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God” (Romans 10:17). The study of God’s Word is how strong faith is developed. Also, the Bible is clear that faith does not mature and strengthen without trials. Adversity in our lives is how God develops a strong faith in him. As we learn to trust him in every situation, faith in Christ grows stronger and give us victory in all things!
These have come so that your faith–of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire–may be proved genuine and may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed. 1 Peter 1:7
For everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. 1 john 5:4
